Weight gain?

I don't know for sure. The scale moves around a bit. I was at 178 one day, and 182 the next. My scale is not a finely calibrated instrument. I tend to go more on a month to month basis with it. In a couple of weeks I should have a better idea.

Yeah, I go week to week under the same conditions. I think I'm gaining around 2lbs per week right now. We're about the same weight (but I'm almost 6' tall )

When it comes time to cut, that extra weight I'm carrying is going to be a pain to lose.

Pay attention to the heavy moves and the medium moves and how I'm concentrating on a limited number of big mass builders. All the moves support each other. It's about focusing my attention. This program won't work forever, but it will move me a long way down the tracks.

Another aspect that I use to my advantage is diet. I'm not afraid to eat and get fat. You keep talking about how your weak, and fat, and how your eating crappy. While I do put some junk in me. I also make sure I'm eating good food to support my lifting. I have a big advantage on you in this area. I'm mobile,a nd have a job. If I'm out of what I need, I go get it. You have to put the pieces in place to build the house.

The last part of this puzzle is this. I still not quite as strong as I was at my best, so I have some memory that I'm working from. However, I've learned a lot in the last year, and I fully intend to push hard through slow downs that come my way.

Your ahead of me on some lifts right now. Watch out, I'm making a move.
game on. lets do this..... i want to catch your bench.

also, i'll be getting my liscense in the next month or two which means i can go get what i need to eat healthy. also i'll be able to always get to the gym

I just talked to Sean Sullivan today. He is a natty promoter, and has competed over 70 times. He was telling me he would help with my diet if need be. I know he would be more than willing to help. he tend to prescribe more of a 4-2 approach, from what I understand. 4 weeks moderate volume, heavy weight cutting period, followed by 2 week maintenance period with heavier volume and cardio.

Anyway, there are several pros I speak with frequently who I know would help you design a specific diet to fit your needs.

I need to start doing some research on weight loss as it applies to people in my age group. I haven't done any of that yet. I'm sure it can be done, and that I will achieve my goals. I was actually down to 165 about a year ago. That was with a hard bodyweight based program.

I think getting the calories right is the easiest part. It's working a program that is sustainable for the amount of time needed that will be hardest.

I have thought of doing a tiered approach. Drop 10lbs and hold steady while building strength back for a couple of weeks. Then dropping 10lbs again, and hold, repeat till I'm where I want. I hate the idea of giving up any muscle. I want to hold on to as much as possible.

Dr. Warren Willey uses a lot of cyclical eating in his book, basically taking an average and then having high and low days...that sort of thing. It's good for leptin levels, but the low days are generally a bit lower than what I like to eat per day.

Have any idea what your maintenance level is?

And how does your body respond to Paleo-type diets? You lose any fat even with moderate calorie intake?
