Quite enjoyable actually. I dont like the more repetitive cardio like running, but taekwondo is fun. As a bonus, this way I also get to work on my flexibility as well.
I think once my relocation is done I am going to take up a martial art again and join you. It's been a while.

Keep up the great work Ray.

Back in the gym after a good time in the conference in San Diego. After 4 sunny days in California, I flew straight into a blizzard in Iowa. It normally takes me 50 minutes to drive home from airport - last night, it took me an hour and 25 minutes, with minimal traffic, thanks to the fading blizzard

All my three talks went well. A German group wants to collaborate in one of my research areas - and that's great news because this is a very strong research group indeed.

Also came across an old colleague who is now a faculty in Turkey, and we talked about a tentative collaboration next year, with me visiting their department to do some research. A visit to Turkey sounds exciting to me. Love the food there. Hope it works out.

Gym was crowded tonight - I suppose folks who missed their workouts yesterday due to the blizzard must have turned up. So I had to wait a while before I could get my hands on a barbell. Utilized the time to take a 2 mile walk on the track. Even then, couldn't get hold of a power rack initially, but that didn't matter since I clean the weight before pressing. Cleans and rows are off the floor as well.

I was about to clean and front squat when a power rack became available - so did the regular squats instead. All is well. Back to the gym once again.

Should have been a rest day. A friend of mine wants to start lifting - never lifted ever before, and wants to start now.

So I went along with him to the gym, and showed him basic lifts - cleans, OHP, rows, squats and bench. We will do some deadlifts later this week. He had trouble getting down deep enough below parallel in the squat, so I worked with him a bit on this. Ended up turning into a mini-squat session for myself. So ... here goes today's unplanned workout -

Squat
bar x 10
135 x 5
185 x 4
205 x 3
235 x 4

Unplanned squats!

Good thing you said a rack opened up, I was thinking you cleaned 230 and was getting envious!

Nice work overall, but that is some really nice pressing.
