Default And... I'm back.

I had a great vacation and despite the weight rooms only having baby weights (up to 50lb DBs) and machines, I was able to ease into my new fullbody workout using said weights/machines although I'm really happy to be back to pushing some real iron now.

I completed my first real workout today on my new plan. It was my first time doing deadlifts in like forever but I felt really strong. Despite not doing them at all in the last couple months I definitely felt stronger. I got some Versa Gripps for Christmas so I was able to bust them out for the first time on the DLs today. I definitely need to break them in but I felt like I was still able to work my grip strength despite the added help. I'm looking forward to doing some heavy shrugs in a couple days with them.

Here's my #s for today:

Squat
8x40
5x70
3x90
5(sets)x5x107.5kg

PR
8x20
5x35
5x40
5x45
5x52.5kg

DL
8x40
5x70
5x80
5x90
5x97.5
5x105kg

EZ bar curls
8x30
8x40
8x40
8x40kg

Weighted Sit-ups
3x20x15kg

Dips
15x(body weight)
12x(body weight)
15x(body weight)

During my last set of squats today my inner thighs started cramping on the last 2 sets (which is normal for me after a long break from heavy squats). I should be fine next time. I'm going to do another workout on Friday instead of Thursday since I'm still getting hammered by jet lag and getting used to this new program. I'll also start adding weight to my dips.

Thanks man. I thought the cramp thing was just me so good to know someone else is feeling my pain out there.

Speaking of pain, holy crap were my legs not ready for those squats. Been walking around like I didn't have knees and avoiding going down stairs like the plague for the past few days. I'm glad I took an extra day off yesterday like I planned.

Needless to say, today's squats were a little painful but I should be all right. Here's what my #s look like:

Squat
8x30
4x70
3x80
5x5x95kg

Pull-up
5x5x100kg

Bench
8x30
4x70
3x80
5x5x97.5kg

DB Row
3x28
5x5x36kg DBs

Power Shrugs
8x130
8x100
8x110kg

Planks
3x max pain tolerance (I didn't time myself)

Felt like a boss on the pull-ups. I'll add more weight there next time. The reason my power shrug numbers are all over the place is because this is my first time doing them so I'm trying to find something that works for me. 110 felt OK so I think I'll start there next time...

I felt tired and unmotivated this morning. Not getting enough sleep last night was a contributing factor. However, once I made it to the gym I was good and strong. My workout today was basically exactly the same as last week except I added 10kg to my dips and that felt great.

My entire gym only has one set of 1.25kg weights so hunting those down is always fun but luckily nobody ever uses them. It was also packed today. Luckily nobody tends to do squats or curls in the squat rack so I only had to wait about 5 minutes for it to get free. Finished my workout in a little over an hour...

Squat
8x20
5x70
3x90
5x5x107.5kg

Press
8x20
5x40
5x45
5x52.5kg

DL
5x60
5x105kg

EZ bar curls
8x40
9x40
8x40kg

Weighted Sit-ups
3x20x20kg

Dips
12x10
10x10
10x10kg

Hopefully my legs will be in better shape this week as I plan to get in the gym 3 times this week. I didn't get those inner thigh cramps this time so that's a good sign. Anyway, we'll see tomorrow.

Today I felt fully recovered from Monday's workout which is a really good thing. Even though I did the same workout as I had done last week I had absolutely no DOMS whatsoever. I had a little pain in the knees but after some warm-ups this was no problem.

I did essentially the same workout as on Friday from last week with the exception of adding a little weight to my pull-ups via weight belt and starting my shrugs at 110 as opposed to 130kg.

Squat
8x30
4x70
3x80
5x5x95kg

Pull-up
5x5x105kg

Bench
8x30
4x70
3x80
5x5x97.5kg

DB Row
3x28
5x5x36kg DBs

Power Shrugs
8x110
8x110
8x115kg

Planks
3x max pain tolerance (I didn't time myself)

I will venture into deeper waters on Friday when I actually start advancing a little on this program. So far I'm really glad I made the switch though. I'm working out a little longer per session but overall my elbows are feeling better and better yet I'm not sore EVERY FRIGGIN DAY OF MY LIFE. If I ever contemplate doing a split again I will probably only go so far as doing a 4-day upper-lower body split. As of right now though I'm happy with this program so far.

So I finally officially completed the first week of my new program. After my 3rd set of squats my back felt a little wonky but I chose not to bail and pressed on. Of course only tomorrow will tell the true story but I think it was a good choice all-in-all.

No PRs today but otherwise a good session. I went up in all my lifts (compared to last week) and nobody tried to come and debo the squat rack despite the fact that I hogged it for almost 40 minutes.

Here are what my numbers look like today

Squat
8x40
5x80
5x92.5
5x105
5x112.5
5x122.2kg

Press
8x20
4x35
3x37.5
5x5x45kg

Deadlift
5x60
4x70
3x77.5
5x5x92.5kg

EZ Bar Curl
8x42.5
8x45
8x45kg

Dips
3x12xBW+10kg

I forgot my O Holy towel today and since my gym doesn't allow the touching of any surfaces aside from bars and groins without the aid of a towel, I skipped sit-ups today. I'll do them next time... with my towel of course.

Wow. What if the towel is soaked with sweat?

Keep up the solid work.
