Sunday 29th December

Tested maxes today. I've got a meet on Feb 22

Squatted 76kg
Benched 40kg
Deadlifted 92kg

All rubbish numbers for me. So, after much freaking out and self hatred, and on the advice of a very trusted source, I've decided to reduce my cardio load and have two rest days where I actually rest. It seems really odd, to my sports trained brain, that less could be more. I'm going to trial it though and hopefully it will help.

Any further advice is also welcome.

I have one week until I'm home and can really focus on food but I'm planning for an intake of 1650 ish of mostly protein and then fat and some carbs. I'm usually able to see some abdominal outline as well as quads so losing that has been a wake up call as well.

Let's see how I go from here! Fingers crossed! (I'll uncross them when it's training time, I promise)

Tuesday 31st December

Bench
Really tried to make a huge effort in committing to going a bit heavier.

1 x 10 20kg
1 x 10 20kg
1 x 6 30kg
1 x 6 37.5kg (I had to take more than a breath between some of these reps but this is just over 83% of my current max)
1 x 5 37.5kg same deal but I failed a couple times to get that last rep
1 x 6 35kg had a few failures in this set too.

Close grip
3 x 8 20kg

Close grip/skullcrusher superset (5 of each, twice)
10 x 17.5kg
2 x 10 22.5kg
1 x 10 20kg

Training has been disappointing lately. I'm running out of ideas of what is going wrong and what I can fix to start working through the weights again.

Wednesday 1st January

Squats
2 x 10 x 20kg
5 x 30kg
5 x 40kg
6 x 50kg
6 x 60kg
6 x 62.5kg
7 x 62.5kg

Leg press
4 x 10 (45, 45, 50, 55. It's a ridic heavy machine)

Sldl
2 x 8 x 58kg
2 x 5 x 58kg

I really had an awesome session today. I've been struggling big time but today brought it all home and I am so proud of myself. 62.5kg is over 83% of my current pr and I even accidentally did an extra rep.

I'm now celebrating with a cider and some seafood marinara. Living the good life.

Thursday 2nd December

Not much today because it's meant to be a rest day.

Bench (all reps paused)
2 x 10 20kg
6 x 26kg
5 x3 32kg

Side bends
3 x 10 (each side) 16kg

Bent leg raise (dip station)
3 x 20

Stretched. Going to look up some hip and shoulder mobility stuff. I'm getting stiff and tight.

Strong work, way to just pound out the reps and not worry about it. I know for me sometimes when I am in a certain mindset with how I feel it affects my training more than any other factors.

Absolutely, I know when I'm low on confidence, I have much worse gym sessions. Unfortunately, I've been super low on confidence lately so that's been an issue. Getting back on top though! Yay!
