I like the workout. That style was my bread and butter for many, many years.

I don't know if I have shared my first real bench workout with you. In college, 1986, I loaded up 95 pounds on the bench. I couldn't move it after 3-4 reps and almost quit working out out of sheer embarrassment.

Had an extra training day available today so decided to do a shoulder workout and try out some exercises for feel that i can add in to my usual routine.

Seated barbell military press

40kg x 8
40kg x 8
40kg x 8
30kg x 12

i normally do these standing so thought i'd try them seated for a change to see what i thought

Seated unwinding press with db's

12.5kg x 8
12.5kg x 8
10kg x 8

went down in weight and found that the form was a lot better. will try these again in future

wide grip upright rows

32.5kg x 10
32.5kg x 10
32.5kg x 10

i liked the feel of these, i dont normally ever do them but it felt like it was doing some good

front raises with bar

20kg x 10
20kg x 10
20kg x 10

these didnt feel good on my elbows so doubt i'll do again

I like upright rows. They're one of my additions. Regarding the "unwinding press", are they what we call the "Arnold Press" like this...

they're a different exercise :

nbest i can describe is like this :-

dumbells at shoulders with neutral grip. Then press outwards at roughly 45 degree angle so you end up in a similar position to a lateral raise but a bit higher and with more weight than you could otherwise get there, hold it for a cshort count then back to beginning.

My training partner suggested them and i really liked them

chest workout

did a chest workout tongiht, noticing a small amount of progression but still lagging behind the improvements in other areas :

bench press

70kg x 5
70kg x 5
70kg x 5
70kg x 5
70kg x 5
85kg x 3 negative

the bench presses felt a bit better as felt less like i needed a spot

incline bench press :

45kg x 10
45kg x 10
45kg x 6
35kg x 13

was a bit disappointed that i didnt manage 10 reps on the third set but looking back it is 2 more than last week which is something at least

dumbell floor press

15kg x 12
15kg x 12
15kg x 14

the only exercise i was really pleased with, felt an increase in explosiveness and more reps.
