Good idea.

Definitely, grip and forearm work is on the cards. As SK said, one option may be to add Hatfield style forearm work. Alternatively go with static holds and some stuff from here -

No. Unfortunately, our university gym does not allow chalk.

Kit,

Your dead numbers are looking good, as is everything else.

I've been real busy lately, and haven't been posting as much, but will get back to keeping up with your log. Keep hitting it!!

I was transferring whatever stuff I was working on during my trip home last month from my external hard disk to my computer, and found a couple of snaps taken around then at the end of Dec. I was weighing around 178 lbs (just after 3-4lb gain in less than 4 weeks - unintentional bulking). I thought I will post them up here for reference.

A comparison with these snaps at the end of this year would be a good indicator of progress (or lack of). While I am not exactly bodybuilding, I guess weight-lifting should bring about some body composition change.

My weight here is around 178 lbs (@ around 5'9.5" height). No idea as to BF%. My guess is around 16%, may be 17%, but for sure, under 20.

Bad news = weak grip. The bar was literally sliding out of my hands on the last reps of the deads. At some point I might have to add in some grip work or else resort to straps (which I hate). I also need to master the "hook grip". That never did feel comfortable, so I just use a normal grip. Would be too bad to stall on deads due to grip problems, especially since the back doesnt feel that bad with these weights.

You REALLY have some good shoulder size, and your biceps have some peak to them which is nice as well. But your forearms are massive Have any clue what they measure?

Get to it man, progress pics are really an excellent way to keep track of your progress.

Thanks. My forearms are not that big; its more of an illusion than anything else. The left forearm measures 11 1/2 inches. The right measures just under 11 7/8 inches. Measurements taken cold and unflexed at the largest portion, without any goose-necking of the wrist. I think the fact that my joints are so small makes the forearms look relatively big. The right wrist is the larger one, and it measures 6.4 inches.
