Interesting to do pull ups for a warm up. I think I might start doing that!

Mighty CGBP there Mike! I hope you can get a handle on the conditioning as it pays off for us more mature lifters.

Nice easy bench day today. Still no video as I have no idea where the camera has gone. Probably not good that it disappeared the same day the inlaws left, but we'll conduct another search before hurling accusations at the locusts.

Warmups: Band shoulder stuff, 6x 2 pullups, 2 min rowing
Dynamic: P. Cleans up to 3x 2x 145

Bench:
1x 250 pause
2x 10x 200

CGBP:
4x 5x 205 (Up this next time)
ss w/ Wide Grip lat Pulldowns: 5x 12x 160

DB Rows:
4x 10x 80 (hardest thing of the day! Sweating like farm animal afterward)

OHP:
2x 12x 105

Lying Tricep Extension:
3x 15x 75
ss w/ Face Pulls 2x 20

Sled pushes:
Empty sled x 30 yds x 6
90x 30 yds x 1

Tried for some speed with empty sled. Haha. Put some weight on it and decided I'd had enough. Hot as the surface of the sun outside didn't help any. Conditioning blows right now, but I just gotta keep plugging away at it.

There you go. Onward and upward. Squats and Sumo Friday.
Nice work Mike! I agree heavy DB rows seem to be the toughest lift for me, conditioning wise !!

Nice pressing, your tri's can handle a lot of volume, no idea how you get round to extensions after all that.

Thanks OR. Yeah, I'll figure out a good rythm for the sled. It's just rutal right at the moment starting out. Then you're right, it will get easier, and I'll add weight and it'll get hard again. Haha. That's the cycle we do all the time, eh?

Thanks Jimbo. Yeah, I stole that pullups in the warmups idea from someone on here and I like it. Makes me actually do them as opposed to skipping them later on as I get tired. Haha.

Thanks fellas. For some reason, pressing is fairly easy for me. I don't know why. The same sets, reps, and percentages for squats for example would probably put me in the hospital.

And JT, I can handle a crapload of volume on bench. I'm actually trying to max out my triceps each day and that day was close. By the end there was some serious body english on those extentions. Wierd thing is my chest/triceps recover is very fast too. Almost never get that sore and two days later, I can hit it again no problem. Not sure why that is when squats are so hard for example.

Anyway, epic day today! easily the hardet workout I've had maybe ever. Totally gassed by the end. Nothing left. Still sweating and breathing heavy even now after laying on the cold concrete floor for a bit, as well as a cold shower and getting in some food and whey. Gonna pull a Swede and eat myself retarded and go to bed early tonite.

AND I have so much more respect for you guys that use wraps on your knees. Holy hell those things were horrible!! I can definitely feel a boost on the lift, but it isn't worth it in my opinion!

I was exhausted just getting the damn things on, then the leg I started with would go numb before I got the other one on. Tried easing up on them and got some work in, but I tell you, the whole time I was under the bar all I wanted was to get those things off my legs!!

On the good side, I found the camera. Inlaws off the hook, well unles they were the ones who hid in a different drawer. Hmmm..

Mike's Old School Plan week 3 redux

Warmups: Just some hip and leg stuff and a little jumproping.
Dynamic: P. Cleans to 2x 135. (Felt a twinge in hamstring, so stopped these)

Squat:
1x 325 (no problem, was just being cautious with hamstring, but didn't feel it at all)
2x 10x 245 (Took a lot out of the tank to finish these)

Knee Wraps:
245x 1, 2 (no vid as it was all I could do to get to the bar and squat, weight was easy but lower legs were not happy at all)
Loosened wraps
5x 225 (Eff it, stopped there)

Plank Challenge:
1x 1:20 (PR is 1:40 I think, so this is pretty good considering what I had done before this)

Sumo:
2x 12x 195

That's it. Back yoga was laying on the floor sweating for a bit.

325:
10x 245:
5x 225 w/ wraps:
Plank:
12x 195 Sumo:

So, made it through the 10's weeks, well, through the hard stuff, squats and deads anyway. OHP will be no problem tomorrow. But, I am well pleased with that as I thought I might have trouble repping 67.5% with 2 sets of 10, but it really wasn't too bad looking back on it. Bump the theoretical max and 8's next week. Hopefully, the good stuff continues. We'll see.

As for wraps, I might need to re-think my strategy on those beasts. Either do them on a day by themselves, or work them in differently, use them looser, something. Unless you guys can point something out that I'm doing wrong, but doing them after that other squat work was miserable. Jeezzzus, just putting them on was a workout! I imagine it gets better, but I'm not sure I really want to find out. Next "upper" week I'm going to rotate Andersons in. ANd I'll practice some other wrapping styles. We'll see if I want to do them again in 2 weeks.

Enough rambling. Onward and upward.

Anyway

I know diddly squat about knee wraps, but I am now starting to think that they are something I will need to start using soon as well. Gonna ask the crew about them this weekend. On squat day, they always have another member wrap them for them. What a luxury eh?

Squats looking really good Mike! Looks like you don't really have a worst or most hated lift anymore!

Thanks Jimbo. I take pride in the fact that squats were horrible for me at first because I had no ability to do them at first, have an arthritic ankle, a balky knee with a slightly torn meniscus, the flexibility of a railroad tie, and a bad brain that refuses to make things any easier by being mentally stronger, but I just worked hard on avoiding all the problems by fixing my flexibilty faults and my form flaws and have moved forward steadily.

It has taken a lot and I am damn proud of where I am. I am going to squat 405 soon and hope to hit 495 next year. I know what it took to get me here. I know who I am. I hated squats for sure, but I don't fear them anymore. I will beat them one day.

As for wraps, my thoughts were to use them as an overload like the slingshot, but they were horrible to put on and didn't help anything like I thought. They were a step forward for two steps backward in preparedness for the set.
