Thanks fellas! Support much appreciated.

Just an update so you know I haven't fallen off the Earth. We got a chance to go on vacation earlier, so we made a really long Memorial weekend out of it. Lots of great family time, but no lifting. Got back today, but am leaving tomorrow for Maryland and the oldest nephew's graduation and family reunion for a couple days, then wife's family descends upon us like locusts for a long weekend after that.

So, workouts are going to be whenever I can shoehorn them in. I am probably just going to go A/B fullbody type stuff for a week or so. Then get back on the wagon and redo week 3 down the road a bit.

Should be able to get a in a session before leaving tomorrow. We'll see. On the good side, cranky shoulder and low back are feeling better than ever.

Cheers all.

The iron is there during my times of happiness, sadness and anger. The iron is there available through the 4 seasons and inclement weather. The iron is there to either comfort me or motivate me. The Iron manages to show me how strong I am or how humble I need to be. The iron does not yell, but it always demands respect. The iron is not a disciplinarian, but when disrespected, I feel it for a long time. The iron does not love or hate, but we definitely share a strong bond. And no matter how far I stay away or for how long, the iron is there, waiting to be lifted.

Thanks Moe! And you reminded me to update my avatar, too! That's the latest picture from a few weeks ago. It'll be really interesting to see what my avatar looks like next May. Yours too, btw.

Yeah, ya gotta eat Moe. I try as hard as I can to clean mostly clean, but honestly as long as the weights keep going up and I stay reasonable, I don't care if I gain some weight right now.

SPeaking of that, I hit 207 this morning, so I've gained nearly 10 pounds in the last month since the meet. Not sure I like that trend, but I have been vacationing and swilling food with family stuff lately. So, hopefully that settles down now that the locusts have left and travel is over. Also, I am adding in some strongman and conditioning work on the end of each session.

And do I even lift? Yes, I do! haha. Finally got in some quality stuff today. I'm redoing week 3 and I feel super strong and nothing hurts. Win. I've got a solid 12 weeks with nothing to disatract me, so here we go 425 deadlift or bust. Fingers crossed.

No video today, couldn't find camera.

Mike's Old School plan, week 3 redux

warmups: Swings and back raises, a few reverse hypers too
Dynamic: P. Snatch 1x 130, 3x 2x 115 (timing getting better)

Deadlift:
1x 325
2x 10x 250 (butter)

Hi Pin:
4x 5x 315

Plank 4x:
60 sec., 52 sec., 50, and 40 (gained some seconds here, but I'm telling you doing these after high rep deadlifts is killer!!)

Squat:
2x 12x 195 (easy)

Bulgarians 4x BW
ss w/ leg curls: 4x 20x 45

Frame walks:
6 x 200ishx 30 yds

SOme back yoga and leg stretches. Session was a bit long, but felt good.

I'm going to add a day in btween this day and bench, so nothing tomorrow and we'll see if that eases the low back tightness heading into bench day. So bench wednesday, Squat Friday, OHP Saturday is the plan. That seems to fit the schedule the best now that summer is upon us.

Also a question for you experienced folk, or anyone really. I am positive I am doing deadlifts much better now as before my low back hurt after deadlifting which obviously wasn't good and probably held me back.

Now, my low back feels fine afterward a little sore, but fine. However, the next day, I get up with a pretty decent ache going right down into my butt. Not pain, nothing that is bad I don't think, but ache in muscles I have never felt ache in before. So, I figure maybe it's muscles I should have been using before? Other explanations?

Also, I never really understood getting a "pump" before, but for a few days after deadlifting, if I lean over the kitchen sink or sit at the table or whatever for too long, I get this absolutely killer throbbing in my low back. It subsides when I go lay down for a few minutes, but it is disconcerting. Is that normal? Is that a pump? I thought a pump was when your arms swell up after curls?

Any thoughts on that stuff is appreciated.

Onward and upward.

Great work Mike! Sad Jay, no vids ! I am not one of the experienced folks, but believe you're just getting back pumps. After discussing this with btb a few days ago, seems its normal. The bigger you are seems the worse they get, so I'm still on the minor side of uncomfortableness ! Keep smashing, looking forward to when you nail that 425 dead! Expect a Super Jim happy dance!!!
