11/29/2009: Light Day

Workout Time: 70 minutes

Workout Grade: B-

My overhead presses were very light. I added 5 pounds to the bar and nailed ll my reps easily. I tried hang cleans and they were a little awkward on the joints. I might stick with them for a while and give them a chance. I tend to avoid exercises that the bicep tie-ins.

Deadlifts felt light. Hang cleans were aerobic. 6 reps and I felt like a fat man sprinting to a buffet.

Deadlift
415 x 5 (rest-pause singles)

Seated Behind the Neck Press
190 x 3/3/3/3/3/3/3/3

Hang Cleans
135 x 6/6/6

Barbell Curls
85 x 8/8/8

Hows your catch on the cleans? Are you doing a full front squat with these or are just getting a little under the bar?

My first go around was more like a hang pull flipping the weight at the top, but not dipping into a full clean. I wanted just to get under the bar to get the feel. Even with the weight on the bar, it's still catching at least 4 inches about my shoulders. I'm afraid to add more weight right now and do a full Olympic clean because I'm afraid of dumping the weight off my hands and on to my shoulders.

I don't know. I do know that the oly workout I was doing was a lot of fun. That sucker had me sweating my butt off. Overhead squats are getting a spot back in my program on light squat day.
