Need some advice. I'm not a power lifter nor a bodybuilder. I just enjoy lifting and want to look good physically. In the last year I have made some good progress in that goal. My chest and shoulders probably are better developed than they have ever been. But I'm not as young as I once was and probably older than most here. I really enjoyed Bulldozer but it's intensity drained my body faster than I could recover. I can also move some fairly heavy weight but it takes it's toll. I get tired of having pulsing pains in my shoulder joints when laying bed or just sitting there watching TV even. This morning hoisting my fat ass off the throne my knees were complaining and I have not done a leg session in a couple of weeks now. I'm at a loss of how to continue toward my goals and be able enjoy life relatively pain free.

Taking anything for the joints at all? Maybe something with vary of the intensity could work for you. Something like every other workout being a rotation between higher weights and lower reps with a solid % then a low weight, high reps, with a much lower %. Just bouncing around ideas.

I'd ask the same as JB, you take anything for your joints? As far as training, since your only goal is health and looks, why not just hit the big three once a week and toss in any other exercises you feel like doing. So know Monday is squat day, just plan on gettin some squat work, whatever you feel like that day, be it more reps less weight or the opposite, or build up to a few singles. Basically just have fun. Still keep a log and track what you're doing so you can see what's working and if there's any progression. I don't have tons of experience so maybe this is a poor idea, but it's actually not far off of what I do. My head limits me often, I just try and hit the big ones and after that what I do I do ! Hope your body feels better soon!!!

No, I'm not taking anything for joints right now. I tried Animal Flex for a while but couldn't really if it was doing anything. Of course, I was really having any issues then.

I'm going to go through the lifts I have in my Bulldozer program with some lighter weights for a while and see how I'm feeling.

You use any tools like wrist wraps, knee wraps or a Slingshot? That's a good place to start.

I would also crank down the volume and maybe move towards slower reps, like 4-6 second negatives. This will reduce the weight used but still allow for progression.

I use very little volume. Don't be afraid to cut it back quite a bit and only do 8ish sets a workout.
