Sunday

Great training session today. Last year I tried some Myo-RepsTM and enjoyed the system. It's just rest-pause: do your set to one shy of failure, rest about fifteen seconds, try a few more, wait a few more etc. So I tried it again today and enjoyed it.

On DB press, I'd previously managed 30 X 10 on DB overhead press. Today that went up to 30 X 15!! Pretty sure I get a massive potentiating effect off the 38s.

Today's George Peppard fact In 1965, George declared that his hat was an independent principality called 'Hatoslovakia'. This meant that his hat became a tax haven, and for a while he stored all his money under there. Unfortunately, this came to an end in 1972 when Germany unexpectedly annexed Hatoslovakia, vowing to 'free the hat people (if any) from Peppard tyranny.'

Tuesday Test drove my knee out with some light squats and it was OK ish. Not quite right but a little better. Heavy DB presses were not so good again, light ones were spectacular for me (again).

Thursday Knee is a lot better, but legs tired from cycling yesterday and weedy squats on Tuesday. Did some fun bodybuilder-type stuff. Discovered I'm not very good at rep work on chest.

Maybe it was the coffee I had before I went to the gym this morning, but I did feel like a freight train. Got a PB on the overhead DB press. Getting two 90lb DBs up to shoulder level seems to require a lot more concentration than the equivalent weight on a bar.

Fourth set of deadlifts, I thought I'd push myself more. 190 x 6 isn't fantastic (I've done 227.5 x 5), but it's a step in the right direction.

That is impressive with the dumbbell pressing. It is a pain getting even one dumbbell of that weight up to the shoulders, even tougher with two I'd imagine. Strong work.
