Sorry to hear about the job. At least the iron is constant.

Thanks Big Guy

Sunday

Another general conditioning/getting back to regular workouts session. My conditioning does disappear quickly without training - doubtless because (a) I don't have a very strong base to start from (b) my age counts against me and (c) I tend to be very inactive when I'm not training - my life is spent in front of the laptop.

Deadlifts

60 (132) X 5
110 (242) X 8
110 (242) X 8
110 (242) X 8
110 (242) X 8
110 (242) X 8

Parallel grip pull-ups

Bodyweight X 8
Bodyweight X 8
Bodyweight X 6
Bodyweight X 5

Chest press on machine

Back to a proper bar next week!

91 (200) X 7
91 (200) X 7
91 (200) X 7
91 (200) X 7

I was due to do some more pressing, but by now I was feeling very nauseous. So I subbed in:

Curls

Two sets.

The Plan

I now have a detailed and systematic plan for the next few weeks:

1. Go to the gym
2. Lift weights up and down
3. Gradually try to do lift more weight, or add reps, or add sets.

It's all about just getting in there and doing anything at the moment.

Tuesday

Didn't feel in danger of throwing up during the session, which is a step forward. I'm still incredibly stiff from Sunday.

Front squats

60 (132) x 5
80 (176) X 5
90 (198) X 5
100 (221) X 5

Standing DB press

28 (61s) X 10
28 (61s) X 10
28 (61s) X 10
28 (61s) X 10

Barbell curls

20 (44) x 10
30 (66) X 10
35 (77) x 10

Thanks Markie

Thursday

Arrived at gym with my head exploding with the father and mother of a headache. From work, of course. However, I still got some useful work done. My poundages are creeping back up, though 308 on deadlifts feels at least a hundred pounds heavier at the moment..

Deadlifts

70 (154) X 7
120 (265) X 6
140 (308) X 6
140 (308) X 6
140 (308) X 6

Bent-over rows

70 (154) X 10
90 (198) X 8
90 (198) X 8
90 (198) X 8
90 (198) X 8

Standing DB press

34 (75s) X 5
36 (79s) X 4
38 (84s) X 3
40 (88s) X 3
30 (66s) X 12

Sunday

The comeback continues. First sets of proper bench press (i.e. with a bar) today after several months.

Bench Press

100 (221) x 6
100 (221) x 6
100 (221) x 6
100 (221) x 6
100 (221) x 6

Wide grip pull ups

I can't remember if I did sets of six or seven, so I'm erring on the side of optimism.

Bodyweight X 7
Bodyweight X 7
Bodyweight X 7
Bodyweight X 7
Bodyweight X 7

Front squats

Despite the light weight and low reps, these were tough.

90 (198) X 4
120 (265) X 3
120 (265) X 3
120 (265) X 3
120 (265) X 3

Barbell curls

My arms have shrunk down a lot, and it's time I did something about it.

30 (66) X 10
40 (88) X 8
40 (88) X 8
40 (88) X 7

Seeing steady progress Tann. With a good plan and drive there's no stopping a man on a mission.
