Nice work Tann. Still looking strong as always.

Hope work eases up soon, but you always have the holidays to look forward to in the first semester, eh? Loved that when I was teaching.

Take care of that shoulder.

The iron is there during my times of happiness, sadness and anger. The iron is there available through the 4 seasons and inclement weather. The iron is there to either comfort me or motivate me. The Iron manages to show me how strong I am or how humble I need to be. The iron does not yell, but it always demands respect. The iron is not a disciplinarian, but when disrespected, I feel it for a long time. The iron does not love or hate, but we definitely share a strong bond. And no matter how far I stay away or for how long, the iron is there, waiting to be lifted.

Thanks OR

Tuesday

Very good session today.

Squats

Normally, I don't go over 160/353 without a belt, but felt very solid today and 170/375 was no problem.

140 (308) X 3
160 (353) X 3
170 (375) X 3
Belt on
180 (398) X 3

Front squats

I was going to do split squats, but really, front squats always trump them for power. Pleased with these (if I forget that my rep PB is 115 X 11).

100 (221) X 5
110 (242) X 5
120 (265) X 5

Pull throughs

One set, then abandoned. They look silly and I can't feel them doing anything but increasing wear on my favourite shorts.

Ghetto Glute ham raises

Ah, so much better than the actual GHR machine. Performed on the seat of the lat machine. Feels like my hamstrings are actually going to come loose. I can only just about do them, and that's wth gripping the backs of my legs. Can't recall precise numbers of reps.

Friday

Excellent session today, even if it only consisted of three exercises. I'm still avoiding shoulders and meant to do deads/legs as a substitute. However, they're still stiff from last session and I'm hitting deads again on Sunday.

Parallel grip chins/pull-ups

PR on these. I've done more on close grip chins, but not by much I think. The last set was done with an effort to pull up to the chest and lean back. Pleased with progress.

Bodyweight X 6

Cybex chest supported rows

Just after some time under tension

67 (148) X 15 + 5 partials

Bench Press

Had to be a bit cautious here as there was no one else in the gym, and it's hard to set safety bars up so they actually protect you. But good progress on these.

Saturday

Wasn't sure if yesterday's training would interfere with today's, but I couldn't wait to get into the gym for deadlifts .

Deadlifts

Pleased with 250, though once again, I'm not sure if it was properly locked out. I think the problem is probably grip. If I pull my shoulders any further back, I would lose the bar.

Warm ups
180 (398) X 3
210 (465) X 1
230 (508) X 1
240 (528) X 1
250 (553) X 1
220 (485) X 3
220 (485) X 3
220 (485) X 3
straps on
220 (485) X 3

Front squats

My poundages have been going up recently on front squats, so I decided to put everything into one set to see if I could get a rep PB. Which I did. Very pleased with these. 155 was surprisingly tough.

Warm ups
100 (221) X 3
120 (265) X 2
Belt on
140 (308) X 5 PB
150 (331) x 1
155 (342) X 1

Deadlift lockouts

I was going to call these Dimel deadlifts, but looking at the videos, I was doing something quite different. I was going from above the knee to lockout with a kind of little shrug.

120 (265) X 7
Losing grip and hands in tatters, so straps on
120 (265) X 15
120 (265) X 14

I couldn't wait to get into the gym for deadlifts

This ^ attitude coupled with wise training programming is what produces this V.

Sounds like good times in the gym right now Tann. Repping over 3 on the bench, 3 working sets over 5 on deads, 342 front squat, raw squat 398 for triple.

Great job Tann.

Thanks OMP, Steve.

Tuesday

Really tired today, but session went very well.

Medium grip pull-ups

Not as strong as last time, but got some good volume. Bicep tendon is holding up well. Tried to pull really high on the bodyweight set.

Bodyweight X 10kg (22 lb) X 6
Bodyweight X 10kg (22 lb) X 6
Bodyweight X 10kg (22 lb) X 5
Bodyweight X 10kg (22 lb) X 5
Bodyweight X 10kg (22 lb) X 5
Bodyweight X 6 + 2 + 2 + 2(myoreps)

Bench Press

Didn't improve on the top set, but one extra rep on the other sets. Terrible back off set: 100 X 10!

100 (221) X 5
100 (221) X 5
120 (264) X 6
125 (275) X 6
130 (286) X 6
135 (297) X 5
100 (221) X 10

Double overhand rack pulls

Don't laugh at the feeble weights. This was to work on my puny grip, which I think lies behind my problem locking out on heavy deads.

60 (132) X 20
80 (176) X 12
100 (221) X 7
100 (221) X 7

I can't do rep work like that unless I am fresh.

Nice little pyramid on the bench.
