Thanks guys. Good news is that my hip feels just the same this morning as before trying to squat, if not slightly better so I'm now confident there's no major tear. I just need to allow the strain/mini tear to heal and keep up the mobility and anti inflammatories. Still positive about squatting a PB at the meet in June.

Thanks Mike. I'm doing what I can including today's rehab efforts:

Lunchtime at work
Pec and shoulder work with hockey ball

Tonight
PVC roller for upper body and hamstrings/quads
Lying hip circles for 5 minutes working tight spots and all directions
Hip aeroplanes
Calf stretches
Bodyweight squats for 1 set of 50
Lat stretches

Now off to bed. I WILL fix this issue through rehab and sheer stubbornness.

SQUAT(rehab) BENCH AND DEAD

Looong warm-up consisting of:

Foam roll upper body and hamstrings
Hockey ball to glutes and glute/ham tie-in
Stretches with average band for hams, hips, lats, shoulders

Squats
BW with doubled mini band at knees x 50
Bar with band at knees x 20
Remove band
40 x 10
50 x 10
60 x 10
70 x 10
80 x 10, 5 (felt a twinge), 10 (fine again)

Bench
Bar x 20
Add doubled mini bands (+40kgs @top)
Bar x 10
40kgs x 5
Add 10kgs chains per side
40kgs x 5
50kgs x 5
60kgs x 5
67.5kgs x 5
75kgs x 4.5, 4
60kgs x 7

Deadlifts
70kgs x 10
110kgs x 10, 10

Been working very hard since Thursday to get my hip more mobile and in better condition so was very annoyed to feel it twinge as I knelt down to pick up something for Mini this morning. Luckily it actually felt good once I got into the gym. Took warm-up slowly and took very small jumps on sets. The weight was ridiculously light obviously but that's already twice as much as I managed on Thursday and with less discomfort. There is still a tight spot that I feel as I hut depth but it doesn't deteriorate, so I did a bit more volume. Felt glute tightening up to compensate for the weakened adductor after the last set so called it there.

Next up was bench and I wanted to do something to get some overload work in. I started off with just the mini bands which I thought added 20kgs. I tested after I finished and they add 40! Threw on the chains as well but only 10kgs per side just to give a higher contrast between chest and lockout and also because I like how they challenge stability. I wanted to work up to a top set old two of five reps but having underestimated the band tension by 50% I missed the 5th rep. Second set was cleaner but still not enough for a 5th. Was pleased when I realised I pressed 135kgs for 2 sets of 4 and not 115

No real weight on deadlifts as I pull again on Tuesday. I just wanted to get some form work in and work on keeping the bar in close to me. Thinking about keeping the weight the same and gradually adding some more volume on this day but undecided. I also like the idea of having this overload day and a full range day but probably need to keep into the higher rep ranges. We'll see. Most importantly my hip felt better and I didn't screw it up any more.

Plan for next week is to pull a triple on Tuesday with lots of volume on back-off sets (probably 5x3) then Thursday I will attempt the 135 triple again on bench and do some more rep work on squats trying to add a bit more weight then next weekend will be more rehab squats, maybe working in my suit bottoms with a bit more weight if my hip allows and more overload bench. The following week I plan on getting back into my shirt to keep my eye in and see where I'm at. I feel and look bigger and leaner but am still the same bodyweight at 95kgs. If I can get this hip sorted and feel my way back into the gear, PBs are still on the cards in June. The big goal for now is the hip though, I MUST do all of the little things and stay on top of my rehab to stand a chance of squatting anything decent.
