DEADLIFTS

Stretch

Sumo speed pulls (all hook grip)
60kgs x 5, 5
100kgs x 3, 3
Add 40kgs chains
100kgs x 1
Add belt
120kgs x 1
120kgs for 6 singles in 3 minutes

Form started really well but lost a bit of back tightness towards the end.

Power clean
60kgs x 1, 1, 1
70kgs x 1
80kgs x 1 (might even be a strict press PB)
Just cleans from here
85kgs x 1
90kgs x 1, 1 Was getting ugly so stopped here

Pendlay Rows
60kgs x 10
70kgs x 10
Add straps
80kgs x 10 Best form ever on these. Very pleased.

Lat pulldowns
3 x 15

Because of the change in schedule this is the second deadlift session in four days. With that in mind I kept things light. Really liked the low rest on pulls but it exposed my flaws; primarily looseness in the mid back. First rep looked really nice and the last rep still wasn't awful so that's progress too

Was only going to do power cleans but started pressing and enjoyed it so tested myself a bit. I like pressing thumbless so adjusting from the rack position was a bit awkward but 80 actually felt OK. 85 didn't move above forehead but still pleased with 80 from the floor strict. I finally got the knack of Pendlays and hit some good reps there too.

Now I have two days rest to get ready for a big bench session on Saturday. I don't want to set my expectations too high but I am pretty excited

Thanks Jay. Hook grip is great. It feels much more natural to have both hands the right way and easier to keep the bar close to me. My only concern is whether my thumbs will take heavier weights as I've only pulled up to 185kgs with it but I'll cross that bridge when I come to it

Hook grip works well for clean as well. I don't recall ever seeing cleans in your sessions. Are they fun for you? Pulls looked really snappy and decent Big Al!

Again, hope the new crew goes fairly easy on you during your initiation!

My technique for power cleans is pretty awful but they were fun.

Fingers crossed they take it easy on me and don't make me hand off for everyone
