Let us know what you think. Never seen it live. Wonder if the smallerish ones are decent or underwhelming.

It was a good time, but only because I knew one of the competitors, otherwise it would have been way too much. It was a timed type event, so you could never tell if someone was winning or not. it was just a AMRAP in 60 seconds, with 60 seconds of rest for 3 different stations. 10 people went at the same time, and had no idea if someone was crushing it or way behind. But, on the positive aspect it was really cool to see so many like minded people come together to crush some weights for a good cause.

side note: this coming weekend is my "strongman" comp. they have changed all of the events around so now it just looks like a crossfit comp, whatever, im trying to stay positive and just have a good time. Some of the things seem to be a little ridiculous and I don't think anyone will be able to finish in the allotted time.

Sorry I have been sucking lately with updating. It is the end of the semester and it is getting a little crazy. But I had my strongman competition yesterday. It was a blast, I had so much fun. I want to do more in the future for sure.

Event 1 was atlas stone, 220# over 54" bar, max reps.
-Max time 60 seconds.
--I was only able to get 2. I wrestled with it for the first 30 seconds, and was able to get it over. Then i kinda was able to figure it out. I almost had the 3rd rep, but I didnt have it quite high enough and couldn't get it over the bar.

Event 2 was log press, 190# for max reps from the floor to overhead.
-Max time 60 seconds
--Only got 1 rep. The press was easy, i just couldn't get the log into the clean position to be able to put it up overhead. My upper back and biceps were feeling blown up after wrestling the log, makes me want to get one.

Event 3 was tire flip, 3 tires (300, 600, 800# tires, wroth 1pt, 3pt, and 6pt)
-60 seconds.
--My plan was to flip the medium tire all the way down to the big tire, and then flip that one at least once. But by the time I flipped the 600# tire 10 times I was exhausted and had nothing left to try the big tire. I flipped the big one in practice pretty easy, just wasnt excepting to be that winded.

Event 4 was truck pull, rope assisted 17" U-haul truck (we were told it was 10K) for 100 feet.
-Max time 90 seconds
--This was a pretty easy event for me. I just fell forward and started pulling. Ended up getting it in 28 seconds.

Event 5 was the medley, started with a 545 yoke for 100ft, then 225/hand farmers for 100ft, and finally a 315 sled hand over hand pull for 50ft. -Max time 90 seconds.
--I finished the yoke easy in about 30 seconds, hand no issues whats so ever, but then when i picked up the farmers handles my body was just done. I got about 10 feet and couldnt hang onto them anymore. I wanted so badly to just make it to the sled in the 90sec time limit, but just couldnt muscle it.

Overall I believe I came in 8th out of 12 guys, not horrible for my first strongman ever. It was an awesome time, and makes me want to do many more in the future. I am going to start saving up for a log, and start looking around for atlas stones. It was just so much fun and I can't wait for the next one.

Congrats Joe. I've been considering my first attempt at strongman but haven't pulled the trigger.

B1) ghr
