Day 3

Deadlift = 6,800 lbs.

8 x 135
4 x 225
2 x 315
1 x 405

a) 4 x 5 x 340

I was planning on 6 sets to build on last week's 5. Not really sure what happened, bros. Warmup felt good, even the 405. Set 2 felt even stronger than set 1. For some reason, after set 3, my energy just started to rapidly disappear. I'd eaten a pre-workout meal, so I wasn't low on nutrients. I worked legs the past 2 days, but I really didn't do an overwhelming amount of volume (I'm training for frequency). I took plenty of rest between sets. I should've been dialed in today.

After waiting a couple minutes after set 4, I knew I was done. During the rest, I actually started to feel weaker. Is it lack of sleep the past couple nights? Maybe. Is it the couple drinks I had with a friend earlier in the evening? Maybe. But I've had strong workouts on light sleep and even when buzzed on alcohol. Also, I felt strong up through the 2nd working set, and my form was 100% all throughout the workout. I was supposed to do incline bench today, too. I sat down on the bench to begin warming up but just felt so resistant; tonight wasn't my night.

Coming home, it was actually harder walking up the steps. My hips and knees felt sore. I don't know when I'm going to work out again -- maybe Friday, maybe next week -- but I know that I definitely need tomorrow off.

Ended up going to bed at like 9 p.m. last night and getting almost 10 hrs. sleep. Felt great this morning. Not great enough to do a lower body workout, but definitely good for an upper body.
I realized that part of my problem is that I'm doing too much each day and taking too long with my workouts. But I don't want to decrease the volume and intensity of the exercises; I like aiming for 10,000 lbs. upper body and 15,000 lbs. lower body. I decided that I should just do 1 exercise per day, alternating between upper and lower body. This will give me adequate rest and let me go as hard as I want:

Day 1: Squat
Day 2: Press
Day 3: Front Squat
Day 4: Bench
Day 5: Deadlift
Day 6: Incline Bench

There won't be any pressure to get in all 6 each week. That means that, week-to-week, there will be some variety in the exercises that I actually perform but each exercise complements the others.

Default Thursday, 3/7

Upper Body Total: 17,895 lbs.

Incline Bench: 11,625 lbs.
20 x bar
8 x 125
4 x 160
2 x 185
1 x 205 (this may be a PR. I never had doubts of benching 205 on incline, I just never felt the need to do it. Only ever used inclines as an accessory.)

a) 5 x 5 x 165
b) 6 x 10 x 125

DB Incline Flies: 1,500 lbs.
3 x 10 x 25

DB Incline Press: 2,520 lbs.
4 x 7 x 45

DB Incline Complex: 2,250 lbs.
(close-grip/hammer-grip/elbows-in presses + static hold/elbows-out/neutral grip presses)
3 x 15 x 25

This may be the most pressing I've ever done in one day. I could've kept going, but it felt like enough. I have almost never worked with dumbbells; trying to get some variety. I have no sense of what good DB numbers are, but I think my fly form was very good because I pretty much looked like R. Kelly in the video for "I Believe I Can Fly":

Yeah, so no fruity cheats to shorten the RoM. I'm kind of a stickler when it comes to form.
Wow, working with DBs really blasts your forearms! I'm happy about that b/c I just don't have the time for iso exercises. Overall, great day at the gym after yesterday's crapfest.
