Nice going. You can definitely bench 300 right now. 3 sets of 5 at 260, no question 300 is behind door number 2.

Awesome stuff.

I have a funky shoulder too. It doesn't click, but sometimes it just kind of "thunks" and loses all strength at the weirdest times like reaching for the seatbelt or taking my shirt off. Happened once on bench too. Doesn't hurt just sort of pops off kilter or something. Next bench set was no problem. I've had an impingement before and it's not that. It's just weird.

Not that that helped, just thought I'd share so you don't think you are alone!

Good luck. Keep crushing.

2/14/13

Squats
45x5x3
110x5
165x3
220x2
280x5x2
280x12 - Hooooge PR

Felt like a Friggin BEAST during the first ten. The last two were real grinders, but all I wanted to do was to squat to failure on this set. Instead I stopped at what was probably the last, or second to last humanly possible rep before failure. I had a friend with me today, and everyone (whether they want to admit it) knows we're less likely to short change our reps with someone there to motivate.

Bench Press
45x5x3
125x5
175x3
225x2
260x5x3

This was difficult today. Might have been the excess squatting had me a bit low on juice, or trying to push through the sets to save some time. I also screwed up and shorted myself 5# on the work set. Oh well, I'm not exactly falling behind on this lift at the moment. I'll get it next time.

Deadlift
120x5x2
180x3
255x2
305x5

I've really got to go back to basics on this. All I'm doing right now is building a massive RDL. My form was great up to the 255, when it slipped a smidge, then 305 was pure a low back pull. After this cycle of Starting Strenght, I'm going to devote a wekk or two to form, especially this. I want a ridiculous deadlift. Someday I'd like to be doing deads like DW.

2/15/13

Squats
45x5x2
110x5
170x3
225x2
285x5x2
285x10 Still going strong. Probably had another solid rep, and maybe one more really sketchy one left in the tank.

Clean and Press
45x5x2
80x5
105x3
125x2
150x5x3

The press portion was very difficult today. I'm not sure how many more workouts I'll be able to combine the power cleans and OHP and still get clean presses. I had to really focus on not using any of the rest of my body.

Dips
BW+22.5x10
BW+22.5x10
BW+22.5x10
BW+22.5x10
BW+22.5x10

Wide grip pullups
BWx5
BWx5
BWx5
BW+42.5x4
BW+42.5x3

I was using a dumbell to not have to jump up to the bar, so I decided to just snag it with my feet on the last two sets. Really had to grind out those pullups, but it made me feel good to accomplish it.

On the 22nd is the "mini-meet". It's not a competition between lifters, but just an opportunity to experience how a meet goes, and they give out Tshirts for 1000 total. They're supposed to be doing shirts for 1100 and 1200 as well, but I talked to them today, and they may not have those in on time. I'm really only shooting for the 1000 at the moment anyways, I'm trying not to interrupt the gains I'm making right now, and the last time (first time) I did a meet, it took a LOT out of me. If it were a real meet I'd be in the 181 class, as I'm floating in the mid-high 170s right now, 180 if I'm waterlogged or just ate. I should be able to pull off 360/280/360 without ruining recovery time between workouts.

Very nice. 1000 easy without even a sweat.

Do you push press at all? When my cleans were ahead of my press, I used to do clean+OHP, then push press whatever I could clean after that. Just a thought.

Great stuff, s-dog. Is that for dogface (infantry man perhaps)? Or am I way off base?

MikeM, it was from a while back, there was someone pushing my buttons, and a colleague of mine asked him if he was stupid and told him to let sleeping dogs lie. Sort of a "don't poke the bear". I like the saying, so I kept it for me.

BtB, now that I'm confident that the numbers required to get 1000 won't really interfere with my training, I'm gonna go, get my "1000lb club" tshirt and call it a day. I most likely will not give it 100% yet. I'm saving that for once I've finished this cycle, and maybe even one more cycle, of SS. Recovery and calorie intake are the only thing that will hold me back from continuing the linear gains for a while longer I think.

Next big question is, do I test to see where I stand tomorrow, leaving myself about 5 days to recover, or do I carry on with workouts as planned? The day before coincidentally would be a rest day anyways, and the day of I would already be doing heavy squat, bench, deads. It's almost like it was meant to be. As it stands, I don't know really where I "should" be for my final lifts, and I wanted to be increasing about 10% per lift for each of my three attempts with lift number 2 being 1000 total so that I for sure get my tshirt.
