The iron is there during my times of happiness, sadness and anger. The iron is there available through the 4 seasons and inclement weather. The iron is there to either comfort me or motivate me. The Iron manages to show me how strong I am or how humble I need to be. The iron does not yell, but it always demands respect. The iron is not a disciplinarian, but when disrespected, I feel it for a long time. The iron does not love or hate, but we definitely share a strong bond. And no matter how far I stay away or for how long, the iron is there, waiting to be lifted.

This was a very difficult decision to reach. Lifting at home, in my environment, dark, no people...I've been able to push through my pain and problems pretty well, or I think so. Doing this meet will be a big challenge! New place and different equipment not a huge deal, maybe? But I'm sure the bright lights will take a big toll on me and my photosensitivity. Then lifting around a bunch of people, not really my thing ! I like alone or small groups, I hate crowds. And then there's the little thing about doing all 3 lifts as heavy as possible in one day, lol. But even if I do horrible, at least I'll have tried to do my best. Kind of an expensive experiment, but at least I'll not have the regret of not even trying.
I asked JB for his advice on how to train as I don't have a long time. Here's his advice and what I'll be doing. I will probably start paused bench right away though, the other lifts I should be ok.

Right now I weigh 201, so I'm going to lower my cals a little and try and compete in the 198lb class. I'm going to try and not stress this as I know my scale will probably not match theirs.
I believe I can get a 900 total unless I do horrible. I'm shooting for 1000 though, as I think I can get this on a good day. But we will see what happens!!!
You are gonna love it Jay ... Very very happy for you brother ... It is kind of addiction .... keep up the great work buddy ...

This is a great decision Jay,for so many reasons. Delighted for you.
I too was convinced by Steve to compete, though he did not know it at the time, it was his advice to sometime else that helped me make the decision.

Not even gonna hide my jealously that you get to lift with Steve, Erin and Brute,
COME ON TEAM MAB

1,000lbs total is all yours mate.
Believe in yourself, your hard work, and your potential

I was virtually in the same boat as you - training at home alone. I didn't care were I placed, I just wanted to get the feel for it and hopefully meet somebody to train with. I ended with a whole crew and Federation to lift with!!

Additionally, I had one of the best times I have ever had with my whole family - bro and sis included. We grew incredibly closer together, as my mom wished before she passed.

One of the hardest times I have ever had was not being able to compete last weekend at the crew's meet. I am sure once you complete this meet, you will also be hooked. It's a blast to go on the platform and show the world and yourself what you are capable of.

My point is is that nothing but good things happen at meets. In Vegas, I really grew with the Crew, who were all there, and really became a big part of the team as I earned their respect, not with numbers, but with effort.

I am sure Steve will help you make it a day to remember forever as well.
Thanks Super Jim! Should be fun, minus my head!

Its just like everyone says....everbody there was super helpful, and very encouraging....and it was over WAY TO SOON!!!

Good for you Jay.....you will have so much fun, you will forget about all the people there!
