Meet week
Squats

Narrow/ Regular stance
275x 1 ...plenty deep, but took all I had to stand up. I've lost a lot of strength

Wide stance
275x 1 ...would have counted for sure, but once again took everything. Honestly don't think I could have done 5 more lbs. Very disappointing! Although I wasn't going to max or anything today, felt close to it!

Bench Press
135x 3

135x 3 ...no plan on going heavy, and I actually stuck to the plan. Felt heavier than it should have. I WAS confident in getting a decent bench at the meet, now I've got some doubts on that too.

Done! So no point in doing any deads, so I didn't! I should be content in what I can do now, vs what I was doing 2+ months ago when I was totally healthy and consistently improving. Guess I'm living and dwelling on my past and sort of refusing to believe how much I've gone backwards with this off time. Good news is my knees held up and feel ok, so don't think they will effect me at he meet. Going to rest til the meet, not that I haven't rested enough and we'll see what happens on Saturday!

You didn't lose as much strength as you think....injury masks a lot of strength... you'll see it again when you get to 100% (hello, old friend!)

great job staying on track. Many would have quit long ago!

First meet will be good for the experience and you may still surprise yourself on the day, stranger things have happened...so no gloomy face, yet



Are you doing any, small amount, of bodyweight squat or barbell bench press (light stuff), just to stay in the groove or is that not the way people prep just before a meet? I'd be wanting to do some really light and extremely low volume work just to keep my head in it, I suppose.

Great to see you post again Jay! Everyone is giving you perfect advice. Don't sweat the meet, don't worry about the numbers, just do your best, set bench marks to beat at your next meet, learn from the experience, and most of all just have FUN!!!
