Sorry to hear Hunter.
Active recovery low impact only, compression.I stopped using ice after watching/reading this article.

My Knee health continues to improve. There's no instant fix it took time to become a problem it will take time to heal.

Leg extensions a year or so ago felt painful now I could do 300lbs on them for reps.
Changes made were fixing my form on lower body work, added mobility work, compression and wise exercise selection. If my knee's hurt I switch focus to mobility/recovery IE; riding a bike, swimming, walking.
No Kinesiology degree here just have experience with joint pain that led me searching for answers, this worked for me.

I don't really buy the Doc's opinion to take 2 pills and call me in the morning. Has he ran any tests? Just because they look good doesn't mean anything. Heck my eyes looked pretty good while a war was going on inside. No offense really to this Doc, but I think he's not taking your problem seriously and maybe you should get a 2nd opinion. Is it possible for you to see an actual Sports Medicine Doc? Not sure how physio or massage will help if they don't know the problem.

I understand you want to do this meet come hell or high water, but you may be playing a bit of Russian Roulette. If this meet makes them worse, is that worth potentially losing months and months of training or maybe even worse?

Just playing devils advocate here Jay because I am worried about this. I of course respect anyone's decision to lift, especially at a meet, but I just want to make sure you have thought this thru.

That's a shit diagnosis. Do your research, train around it and get it sorted. Resting completely only conditions you for resting. Keep active, do what you can and in the meantime actively rehab it. Email Donnie Thompson, look at the MobilityWOD stuff but do NOT expect it to go away through rest and ibuprofen alone.

To add to this, resting used to be considered the best approach for a bad back and when I was a teen I badly injured my lower back...saw a doc and was told to rest...so, I had 3 weeks rest...it took years (2 decades) for the back to improve sufficiently to no longer cause an issue; today, of course, the idea is not to rest as much as do active recovery, had I been given that information, it may not have taken so long to get back to "normal".

So, I have to agree with LtL.

Squatter also highlights a great point, just because something looks okay, doesn't mean it is.

I know people's hands are tied where doctors are concerned but hope you can find the answer to it before the meet.
