Wed. 4/24/13

Somewhat dissapointed with the workout today. The deadlifts went well, but my shoulder is still messing up and other than DL I had military press.. well the shoulder wasn't feeling right and I was already pretty worn out from deads as you will see in the video.

Deadlift - 25 reps, 5 sets @ 335: 5, 5, 5, 5, 10. Last 2 reps on the last set I started seeing stars, I might have had a couple more reps but I didn't want to eat that bar

Friday 4/24/13

Squat Feeler. I haven't squatted in about a year. This is what I got through today. I'm more than happy with the results. I had a lot more I could have gone up in weight but I wanted to see about where I was, if I could even do a squat honestly.

Squats - 135x5, 135x5, 185x5, 225x3, 275x2, 295x1, 315x1 - Felt good, I feel great, hips are a little sore, as is upper back and abs but that was a given.

Close Grip Bench Press - 155, 175, 175x8 - This bench I'm using is cool but hard to reach and I'm getting cramps in glute/hams. I might use a different one, they have a few.

Seated Close Grip Rows - 10, 14, 16x8 - I don't know poundage, but the stack only goes to 20. I imagine those are 100, 140, 160lbs but I don't know.

Leg Ext - 150, 210, 210x8

Straight Leg DL - 225, 225, 225x8 - Left a little in the tank, def. will go up next time.

DB Curls - 20, 25, 25x8 - Turning my hand supinated really really messed with my shoulder.. It even cramped up and really hurt to turn back normal so I stopped.. I wanted to do 25, 25, 25x8 but that's ok.

Great work Cutty. You seemed to lack confidence on the last 2 sets(i understand why) but they were light for you. Good to have you squatting some!

Agree with JB wrt confidence and being a bit rusty, but really didn't look like you have not done them for so long!

Your deadlift stance looks pretty wide. Is that just where you prefer it?

Squatter, I've been playing with width and I've tried in more and out more, and that seems to be my natural stance I prefer. If I have it out more I lose pop out of the hole, if I have it in more I do funky stuff either leaning to a side, dropping knees or something weird. I'm always trying different things but I'm really happy with that width. I pulled 495 with a deadlift bar before I moved and I haven't pulled over 400 in like a month and it was really fast so I'm pretty happy with it.

Not sure if it's because of my belly or what but that mixed with the widerish grip on the bar I seem to get the best feel.
