Week 8 Day 3
15 March 2013

Squat
170kg / 375lbs x 0 FFFFFFUUUUUUU!!
Went off and had a little think about my tightening my arms in and also about a few points LtL mentioned to me last week.
170kg / 375lbs x 1

Better.

Bench
110kg / 240lbs x 3 – 3sets

Deadlift
160kg / 350lbs x 3 – 3sets

Notes
In fairness today for me was all about getting that 170kg squat out.
Its frustrating on one hand that this is giving me so much trouble when I used to do it for triples last summer, on the other hand I need to be realistic , last summer I was also 15kgs heavier , so with (hopefully mostly) fat loss like that im gonna see a dip in numbers. And I have been fortunate to keep my bench around 130kg and even added 5kg to my DL

Will do a quick session on Tuesday or Wednesday next and then we are into the National Full Power champs.
Will have a think during the week about lift attempts and the likes….

It's really tough to have all 3 lifts going well at the same time, and even tougher to have them all peaking at the same time for a meet. There just never seems to be rhyme or reason - I am sure this happens to all athletes.

When I was in Vegas at the WPC worlds last November, I felt just great going in and I couldn't have been better prepared. Squat went well, especially after a mishap straining my quad and getting red lighted on my first attempt for depth. After squats were all done, I prepped for bench, felt great and ready to crank out a PR. When I got to the platform, it all went to hell. I also thought, how can this happen? MY benching the last few months had been progressing so well. I was not nervous. Then deads came up, I felt tired and mentally out of it because of bench, and low and behold I crank out PR's and likely could have gone for close to 500.

My point is, we just never know at any time or period of time how our body is going to lift and react to a certain lift. If somebody can figure it out, they will be multi millionaires.

Just go into the meet confident that you are a great lifter with a big heart full of desire, and with an attitude I am going to have fun with what my body is willing to give me that day. Everything else will fall into place.
