Thanks, folks.

I was really surprised with how light it felt. Usually weights around that number feel a lot worse than that (even if they look good). I was especially surprised that the session went so well when taking into consideration that I could hardly walk all day. Waddled for most of it.

Looking forward to squats and bench tomorrow.

Does anyone have experience with the rule of 60%? Is it an actual thing, or just something that got thrown around at elitefts and Westside?

I've also read, on Westside I think, that it should be the rule of 30% for powerlifting. I want to add some squatting into my Tuesdays and maybe deadlifts on Thursdays, as a form of technique practice and recovery. I was thinking I'd do 60% intensity for 60% volume. So if I did 170kg 5x5 on Monday, I might do 102.5kg x 5 x 3 sets on Tuesday.

I think I'm over analyzing this. I should stop over analyzing this as I think over analyzing is stupid. I'm going to stop over analyzing this. End ramble (thoughts still welcome from others).

Ya, we are just a tad far apart lol. I am not sure of his last name. I will ask next time I see him. He did not mention the meet in BC. Where in BC is it?

Bit more than a short walk apart.

Richmond. I've never been that far west, any idea how far away from Vancouver it is? It looks relatively close. The meet is going to be at the Richmond Olympic Oval

Thanks for the link! I didn't even see a meet listed for Calgary under the upcoming events. It must be a qualifier for the Nationals. Based on my last meet total I wouldn't have qualified for it anyway. My total was 507.5 kg's in the 105 kg class. At any rate, hopefully I will qualify for next year!

Ya, I can't find one for Calgary, either. It might not be posted yet. Just keeping working hard and I'm sure you will! I finally got consistent training in the last several months and the gains have been great.

Thanks for the encouragement! The missing link for my training was a proper routine. JB has stepped in with a customized program to close that gap and get a 1200 lb total. It shall be done this year!

How many meets have you competed in? I have 2 under my belt.

Having something laid out is a great idea, as is having a "coach." Both these things make you accountable, as well. Good choice, you'll definitely hit 1200, probably much beyond!

Umm, let me count out loud. 1 raw, 2 gear, 3 raw (counting this past one). I guess I'm up to six now. My first was in July 2011. It sure doesn't feel like it's been that long, but the meet jitters have certainly calmed down. How time flies. It really took me a few meets to feel really comfortable with the whole thing. It was always fun, but now I can really calm down and focus.

For deloads?

I've heard of deloading with normal sets and reps but 60% of the weight, or normal weight, but with 60% of the sets and reps.

If not for deloads ignore. Not sure where this comes from though.
