Default 6-12-2013 BIG Week 6 Back

Today was a pretty good day. A little tired from the ole double-shift yesterday, but other than that, I'm feeling pretty wonderful.

Warmup Squats

High Pin Pulls (with the Squat bar for ease of use in the power rack and grip training)

I trained everything double overhand, chalk only. Like a dumbass. I should have switched to mixed grip so I could go heavier, but didn't think about it till after my working sets. And tearing my hand open.



Finished off with Stiff Leg Deadlifts from about 6 inches off the ground, I think (two rubber plates high)

Ordered a Ram from Anderson PL last night and it is on it's way to me. Also ordered a resistance band from EliteFTS to make shoulder rehab/prehab work easier. It's in the left shoulder, so it probably has everything to do with the repetitive motion of sauteeing (Gotta use your weak hand for it so your dominant hand is available for finer actions). I'll get this shoulder fixed yet.

Today was good at work and I am glad it was pretty low key. I was up WAY too late at Man of Steel.

Good to get the pump on and hang out with the guys while they squatted. I will be starting to lift with a group beginning next week. I expect big things to come of this. I hope to make huge gains as well as help the other guys do the same.

Tonight was AWESOME. I think I may get my pacing off sometimes and go to fast with my lifting. Not necessarily a bad thing, but the extra rest working with the guys tonight helped.

Having the liftoff taken out of the equation was so great. I think that's what has really been holding me back. I feel like I'll get at least 335 here in a month.

Incline Bench (Sorry JB, breaking a little from the program. The guys are working the Ed Coan Bench program and since I'm not headed towards a meet, just gym maxes, I figured a little extra shoulder work wouldn't hurt anything)

Felt pretty solid. Haven't done incline bench in a LONG time. Like, 6 years long time.

Triceps pressdowns
35x2x10 on the cable machine
Worked them with an EliteFTS Light resistance band four 4 sets to burnout just to get the bloodflow going.

I really liked working with partners. I think this is the start of something beautiful.

Yeah man, I see big things coming from having training partners. That hasn't really happened since high school.

Deadlifts kinda deviated from the plan laid out in BIG. I think I'm going to try building some boards to lift from, keep them in my bag.

Warm up squats, warm up deadlifts, yada yada.

Working Deadlifts (from floor)
405x4x4
495x2 (Big PR right there)

Worked a few sets of 3-5 sumo deadlifts at 225 to see how I liked the groove. It felt pretty good and I may switch next cycle.

Romanian deadlifts (mostly for bloodflow and stretch)
225x5x4

Having other folks motivating you is pretty amazing, as well as helping others.

I'm still so damn pumped from that heavy double. Nice to see where I'm at.
