225 x 1 paused
275 x 1 paused

225 x 3
315 x 1
405 x 1 O/U
Put on versa-gripps
425 x 0

Ab wheel

Seated calf raise

Squats felt pretty good. 335 felt a little heavier than 340 last week, but not unmanageable at all. On deads, the 405 felt heavy, but I thought 425 with straps would be cake. Wrong. Barely got it off the floor so dropped it and called it. Pretty sure form was off a bit and I wasn't tight enough at the start of the pull. No worries.

Rich - I have found that taking 4 complete days off before a meet to be ideal. This is what I did before the Vegas Meet. I did my mock meet 1 week before, and then a pre meet session 3 days later (Just squats and bench, no deads for the pre meet sesh) and then the meet was 4 days after that. Worked perfect for me. During the pre meet session, I squatted up to a single of 335 (opener was 375) and I benched up to 225 for a single (opener was 255)

This scheme has a good chance of working for you, since we are about the same age. One full week off before a meet did not work well for me at my first meet.

I sure hope the 405 feels lighter at the mock meet.

Thanks for the pre-meet week insight Jim. I agree that a full week off might not be ideal for me either. My mock meet will be on Sunday and I will hit a light session on Tuesday which will give me 4 full days off before the meet.

I think I took for granted that 4pps would just fly off the ground. My ramp up was a little aggressive too I think, probably should have thrown in a 365 between 3 and 4pps. Lesson learned. Take EVERY lift seriously.

Strong Work. THe CNS is a tricky beast. The stronger I have gotten, the more I've experienced that a weight I smashed one week, is a struggle the next.
Very good session. Looking forward to your meet

Not sure if this helps or not, but timing your peak is such a tricky thing. Priming yourself for this or that weight seems like a math formula, but it isn't. You either have it on the day or you don't.

That's meets. You're better off being mentally and physically happy, then stressed and wondering.

Just let it happen. That is advice I would give to myself, not having followed it in any of my meets so far!

Haha yeah I imagine a lot of well thought out plans go right out the window as soon as the meet starts. I think I am at a good point right now, simply took that lift for granted. Will make up for it on Sunday.
