Great beching session Rich....getting stronger every time.

How long had you been benching before you got the bench daddy?

The iron is there during my times of happiness, sadness and anger. The iron is there available through the 4 seasons and inclement weather. The iron is there to either comfort me or motivate me. The Iron manages to show me how strong I am or how humble I need to be. The iron does not yell, but it always demands respect. The iron is not a disciplinarian, but when disrespected, I feel it for a long time. The iron does not love or hate, but we definitely share a strong bond. And no matter how far I stay away or for how long, the iron is there, waiting to be lifted.

Thanks Marvin! I've been benching for a little over 2 years with free weights. Couldn't even hit 225 for a single back then so I have made decent but slow progress. Seems that since I have started hitting 5x5 straight sets with heavy weight plus finishing off with overload sets with the BD, my bench has started to move north at a little quicker pace.

Real Results 4-day Upper/Lower
W18 D2 Tuesday

Squat
305 x 3 x 5 +5lbs
Last couple of reps may have turned into a little good morning hybrid lol. Stayed with the slightly wider stance and more angled feet and seemed to work well.

Deads
135 x 5
225 x 5
315 x 3
365 x 1
405 x 0 fail
The 365 felt heavy and form was way off on the 405. Felt like my shoulders were way out over the bar. Might be time to back down a little from all the heavy pulling and work my way back up.

Kneeling cable crunch
200 x 17 x 3

Seated calf raise
145 x 12 x 3 +6 reps

Good to see that the staple lift (curls) of any good strength routine has found it's way back into your training!

Oops - how did I miss 2 sessions!!

No need to reset your deadlift Rich - dump the rack pulls.

One thing we have to remember is is that us geezers are not capable of doing all the things or things as often many experts may say is needed to gain muscle or strength. They often do not consider age. I'm not saying we cannot do them, just not as often or not in conjunction with other things. For example, they often say to squat 2X per week. Well, combine that with deadlifting and what have you for accessory work, well, it's just too much for some body parts, especially lower back. Heck, even benching takes alot out of your back.

I think I may be losing form by not pulling from the floor often enough. Even at lower weights I think I may benefit more. But now that my squat is getting back over 300, which is heavy for me, it might start to affect my deads.

Not gonna change up a lot Marvin. Most likely just reduce volume a tad.
