Before you read this long as fack post, the highlight is i grinded out a 30lb squat pr. Video at botttom.



Friday April 26th.

I took one serving of original 1MR in the parking lot, figured i've had this sample long enough not to use it. It made me shake, it made me lightheaded, it wore off after the squats, but i was really focused and had no fear once i was under the bar. The world went away, i heard no music, i paid no attention to the few other people in there.


Squat warmups with shoulder stuff, bodyweight, bar, 135, 225 and 275. All super easy. Waited 10 minutes before my 1st attempt (mock meet, and im writing as such)

305lbs, ridiculously easy.

345lbs, 10 less than the max i set in january, pretty dang easy and fast.

385lbs, bar felt like a feather, sat a little higher up than usual. Descent was great, had the worst grinder on the way up. Folded forward, thought about the bar dropping, but i killed that sob.


Bench, warmup with rotators, bar, 135 x3. Warmups here were alot less than usual, but i feel it worked out fine.

215lbs, slower than i would have liked.

250lbs, didnt like the feel of it.

285lbs fail. My "screw it" attitude overcame the sensible part. I considered doing 275, oh well. Lost it about 1 board level.

I have the strength to do all these, and im not making excuses. I could blame it on missing sessions the last few weeks, but i really need to press more frequently.


Deadlifts. Wide squats and sumo deads are already a compliment to each other, so i warmed up extremely fast. 135 for several, than 275.

335lbs was irritatingly slow, but not too heavy.

405lbs failed. Hitched it, then realized it wouldnt count in a meet. Dropped it before lockout. Man it was scary deadlifting barefoot. And sockless, cant get good footing with just socks.

Despite waiting 10-15 minutes between lifts, this just wasnt my night. After that squat i thought i had confidence, but i questioned myself.

After tonight, i will never again miss sessions just to watch Walker, Texas Ranger and eat ice cream with friends. Sorry, gotta train first.

Grab some cheap chucks from target. Some of the biggest pullers use them to pull and squat in.

Great work Ben! Congrats on the squat PR, big time grinder! Props for not giving up, hope you didn't tweak your back though! I've never tried maxing the big three in 1 day, I'm sure I'd do much worse! With deads, maybe get some chucks or my fav wrestling shoes! Keep up the great work and smash on bud!!!!!!
