Well, not BIG deadlifts, but I did hit them hard today. I felt great going in, but for some reason they were pretty heavy today. JB said they might be, and we haven't pulled from the floor in over a month, so I probably just let me head get bigger than what I was actually ready to do.

But enough said about that. After seeing Jim's dilemma, my tough day doesn't seem that important in the grand scheme of things.

I did crush a Power Clean PR though!

JBPP week 8 finished

warmups: swings and reverse hypers and some cleans, was having fun with these so decided to chase a PR.

Power Clean:
1x 145, 155, 175,
0x 185
1x 185 (PR)

Deadlift:
1x 335, 345, 355, 345, 355

was supposed to be 5x 1x 335, but I thought I knew better and upped that, probably a bad idea but I do feel really damn good about finally being able to grind a deadlift! I have never been able to do that before as I usually just lose it wherever it stalls. Not sure if they were legal lifts, but they got up there!

0x 185 Clean, close, damn elbows needed to whip around a bit more!!:
1x 185, pretty ugly, but I got it. I can raise this if I practiced it more:
1x 355, first one:
1x 355 last set:

Boy, watching them now, they were worse than I thought. I don't know what that twist was. I felt like the bar was in tight, but obviously not. My arms are straight. It's like one leg was pushing harder than the other or something. Oh well. Better form next time!

So, on the good side, I didn't miss a rep and got some good work done. Wasn't as snappy and confidence building as I thought they would be, but still got some positive vibes overall despite how ugly tough it was.

And I got out without any injuries, which considering Jimbo, I am very thankful for. Good luck buddy!!!

Great work Mike! Congrats on the PR, strong stuff! I'm by no means a dead expert, but I think you could bring your stance in some. When btb came over and helped me with my form, that was the first thing he had me do, and yours looks wider than mine was. I'm sure smarter people can correct me if I'm wrong! Nice work Mike! Congratz on the PC PR Jim is a better teacher on PC's than me for sure, but there should be two distinctive pulls and you are just ripping it right from the floor. The way I understand it, you should have a nice controlled first pull to just below your knees, then on your second pull you go for explosiveness and a big shrug to clean the bar. I'm sure I didn't explain it very well but Jimbro can

Solid reps Mike. Overall they were decent.

Have you ever tried bringing your foot stance in a bit? Even a half inch or inch per foot will help bring those arms in closer and get you more upright from the start of the pull. Not that your form is bad; it's not. Just that with your body type your chest is almost on your knees when you start the deadlift and every half inch to inch you can get more upright can only help.
