11/16/2009: Deadlift Day

Workout Time: 53 minutes

Workout Grade: A-

What's the difference between demonic possession and a back pump? To the untrained eye, there is no difference.

After my 315 deadlift warmup set, my back pump was insane. By the time I was 2 reps into my deadlfit set, every dog within a mile radius of my house was scampering for cover like the end of the world was on its way.

If you've never had a severe back pump, then my story will seem like hyperbole. It's not. The hardest part of a back workout isn't the actual sets and reps...it's surviving without ripping your eyes out of your skull.

I survived. Yelled. And thrived. Strength was up.

Deadlift - 10 minute, rest-paused singles
405 x 9

Yates Rows - 30,30,60,60 second rest
170 x 9/5/4/4/4

T-Bar Rows - 30,30,60,60 second rest
145 x 8/4/3/3/4

Power Shrugs - 60 seconds rest
365 x 3/3/3/3/3/3
