I know everyone hates my wondering mind, but instead of continuing to just do a 5x5, i would like to get a max on my 4 lifts and separate push press/bench and squat/dl so still 4 days and the same concept, but set a 5rep max progression scheme

Getting stronger is the magic.

Change what you do each day if you want, just get stronger.

Seconded. Get stronger. While I'm not the biggest fan of Rippetoe's programing, I think Rippetoe had knuckle heads like you in mind when he went to the extreme, cut out everything but the main lifts and designed his novice program. You are the perfect example of why he has taken an extreme stance.
Please don't be insulted, I don't mean to be disrespectful.
You spend so much time, effort and energy trying to find the magic program to get the results that you want, yet you go nowhere. Why do you think this is?

You need to pick a program and do it for 4 months. Period, end of story. If you stall, reset, if you get burnt out take a week off or a deload week. Otherwise do every workout every week, lift consistently, and don't make excuses. I think you would be amazed at what you would achieve.
