Regular kinda stance. Feet perpendicular to the box, perhaps a touch wider than my free squat one.

21/07/12

Speed and power day.

Box Squat (2-high, so just above parallel)
20x10,5
20+green bands x5x2 sets
50+green bands x3x2 sets
90+green bands x3x2 sets
120+green bands x3x3 sets
140+green bands x3x3 sets
160+green bands x3x3 sets

Felt fast and powerful, lots of fun.

Sumo Deadlift
60x5,3
60+double green bands x3x2 sets
100+double green bands x1x3 sets
130+double green bands x1x3 sets
160+double green bands x1x3 sets
180+double green bands x1x3 sets

Somtimes when I do speed sumo pulls the weight feels heavy and I just can't get into it, but today was not this day (#lordoftherings)! These felt great: fast and powerful.

Tyre Jumps
Next to tyre x1x3 sets
1 paving slab width away (and a bit extra, where the tyre had landed) x1x3 sets
1.5 paving slabs away x1x3 sets
2 paving slabs away (1.4m away, 57cm high) x1x10 sets

Using my very scientific method of counting the paving slabs outside the gym, I pushed the tyre over so it lay flat and gradually increased my distance from it until I found a point at which the jump was tough, but doable.

23/07/12

Squat
Warm-Up
230x3
185x5x3 sets

Boom. Nice PB-triple.

Sumo Deadlift
60x5x3 sets
100x1x3 sets
140x1x5 sets
170x1x5 sets

As described above, these felt heavy and blergh.

RDL
20x10,5
60x5
100x5
140x3
180x3
200x5
200x5
180x8

Ouch.

Whoops. I was copying and pasting and didn't notice it kept pasting the whole lot over and over again as it landed on the same section. Fixed now.

Nah, I've done it here and there, but I don't really focus whole sessions around it apart from this past Saturday where I wanted to keep it light. Also, I don't have bands so without them it's pretty boring (unless I can steal Al's).

Yeah didn't think I've seen too much of it in your log before. Bands are ace indeed, I don't like doing speed work without them.

Me neither, really adds a zip to the lift and mixes it up. Just doing light pulls or whatever is just boring.
