Korea, on the other hand, is a different story. Long gone are the days of cheap lifting, but at least the equipment is easy to handle, doesn't leave you questioning yourself if you may have acquired tetanus or a heat stroke.

My quest to find a gym in Seoul was surprisingly difficult. I must have gone to at least 10 gyms and they either didn't have appropriate equipment (a squat/power rack usually was the culprit) or, astoundingly, they wouldn't let me pay to work out for just one session despite having a weight room completely devoid of money-spending clients.

Initially I wanted to try a couple different gyms in the city of about 20 million people but due to the aforementioned issues, I wound up working out in the same gym twice. Everyone was asked to wear the same uniform; men had to wear a gray t-shirt with blue sleeves and women with red sleeves. The place also had a small golf range. Weird.

Here's what my two workouts looked like after warming up:

Workout A---
Squat: 5,4,1 x 150kg (I've definitely lost some squat strength on my trip)
Bench: 5,5,5,10,10,10,15 x 80kg
BB Row: 10,10,10 x 90kg
Upright Rows: 9,8,8 x 60kg
Skull Crushers: 10,9 x 30kg (+bar)
Planks: 4 x ~30 sec

Workout B---
DL: 5,6,5,6 x 160kg (again... lost some strength and had to reduce my weight)
Military Press: 5,5,5,10,10,10,14 x 40kg
Leg Press: 17,15,15 x 170kg
Pull-Ups: 7,7,9 x body weight (+10kg)
Close-Grip Bench: 10,10 x 85kg
EZ Bar Curls: 11,10 x 30kg (+bar)

And... that's that for my whirlwind lifting tour of Asia. I'm thinking I'll be creating a new log in a few weeks when I get better situated in the US since my training has evolved so much over the past few months. But... I'll keep you posted.

Default Home again: Working out in Durham, NC

My trip back to the US was very long yet uneventful. Just in time for Thanksgiving! Right now I'm staying at my brother-in-law's place and I'll be here for Thanksgiving and then I'll start the trip down south to Florida.

Got my workout in yesterday at the neighborhood YMCA. Nice place. Plenty of room to squat and everyone there was speaking a language I understood. I had to convert my weight from kgs to lbs but other than that, my program has remained the same (I'm using the full-body version). Here's what it looked like after warming up:

Squat: 15 x 265 lbs
Hack squat: 10,8 x 265 lbs
Dips: 10,9,8 x body weight +45 lbs
DB Rows: 7,7,6 x 110 lbs
Arnold Press: 12,11,10 x 45-lb DBs
Incline DB Curls: 10,10 x 55-lb DBs
Triceps Extensions: 20,16 x 90 lbs
Ab Wheel Roll-Outs: 20,16,19

I'll be back at the Y after Thanksgiving. Till then I'll be eating and gaining and recovering from jet-lag!
