Here are my highlights from my showing at the "Festi-Force Louis Cyr" strongman contest, which took place at Saint-Jean-de-Matha last week-end (in Quebec - which is the town where Louis Cyr lived until is death in 1912).

This was an amateur competition with two weight classes (Under/over 200 lbs)
I entered as a heavyweight with an official weight-in at 250 lbs (I'm 6'1" - so I was among the slenderer guys there).

Farmer's walk with 230 lbs in each hand for 50 feet -- first time ever; I did OK, I even recovered nicely from a swerve (walking with them and slowly bringing the things back on track). I was surprised how easy these things were to hold - much easier than my Oly bar for one-handed deadlifts! I sure will try to walk with 250+ lbs.

Tire flips (600 lbs) over 50 feet -- first time also. Once I got the hang of it, it was easy. Can't wait to try a 800+ tire!

Sled drag walking backwards (120-lb wooden crate with 380 lbs of iron on it - total 500) over 100' -- that was awesome, I won my race!

Atlas stones (100, 150, 200 & 250 each lane, plus one 300 lbs to try for the first guy who got the 250 up) -- first time ever also: I got the 250 lbs off the floor but dropped it; with some practice, I'll be able to get it easy.

A great week-end! A lot of fun there! My motivation to train is through the roof!
