To recover faster from a workout I use a cold compression wrap and blood flow stimulator. The cold gets rid of inflammation immediately and then by bringing nutrients to wherever I just worked out with the stimulator I'm ready to do the same exercises the next day. The blood flow stimulator prevents injuries also. As for exercises just make sure to have a big variety, that way you won't put too much strain on one muscle and you'll have a stronger shoulder all round too.

Here are a few for the shoulder

As for the back, I would suggest the McGill Big 3. My training partner and member of this forum
(Brian Carroll) rehabbed his back with the help of Dr. McGill after a sever back injury.

Indian clubs could be good for your shoulder if you don't require surgery. Start very light if you decide to go this route. I started using them a couple months ago to build up my rotator cuffs and havent had any pain in them since.

Also, Donnie Thompson has a lot of good prehab/rehab information on youtube and his website breakingmuscle. I have tried some of his suggestions and always find them helpful.
