Default Rack Pulls

I need help. I have been doing rack pulls on a 3D max rack. It's a smith machine that also moves horizontal. Well it seems fine but I don't know the weight of the bar, and my ego hurts because it is a smith machine...ha. Anyways we don't have a power rack so am I stuck using this machine. They don't like me using 2 benches to rest the bar either.

The free motions I've seen had safety pins that act like the rack pins. You don't have any?
