The pics are funny. My wife just started Crossfit and we went to a local Crossfit games in Charleston. Unfortunately, it looks like thats the future. It blew away any powerlifting or Olympic lifting meet I had ever been too. Packed with competitors, spectators, and sponsors everywhere. It was done at the local minor league baseball stadium and it was full of people for a local event.
I do see why it appeals to your normal everyday person. Most of the competitors were in kick ass shape (especially the women) and its something you can do and still not really put yourself out there. Everybody knows its a little nerve racking the first time you here "Bars loaded" and you step out alone on the platform in front of three judges. Thus stuff was done in heats with 30 other competitors so if you dont do so well then no one is really going to notice.

I have no issues with crossfit itself. It's the god awful trainers that are teaching people the most stupid shit that are the problem, and kipping pullups.

Pah thats nothing. Couple of years ago I say a guy do pull ups only using_ smith machine, bench, ez bar and straps. Quite a sight. To this day I am not sure what was wrong with the pull up bar and weighted belt the gym provided.

Thing is crossfiters they so enjoy prating around a bit (if they are dicks theyll call this still practice) so lots if good photo opps to luck a bit of a prat.

There are a couple movements that you should definitely be a bit wary of. Those are:

Jumping Pull-Ups
Negative and Banded Pull-Ups
Heavy Squats

/start rant

My buddy is opening up a gym together with his wife. On the homepage it says they will have strongman and crossfit training equipment together with a bunch of other stuff.

So, I posted the link to the homepage in various related groups around facebook, one of them being the local crossfit box.

10 minutes later this jackass from that crossfit place PMs and start to go on about Crossfit being a trademark and so on and that he have contacted the gym owners.

Seriously? WTF is wrong with some people. I told him to remove the stick from his tight lil ass, get a life and to contact me if he ever wanted to be strong and neded some tips.

/end rand
