When I've done dumbell bench I find my pecs seem to get a much better workout then using barbell but for pure strength gains I feel barbell is better since I can use more weight.

Yeah I'm finding the same right now, really enjoying the way it works for me. As I said above I'd like to use Barbell bench as a switch up soon, but we'll see!
