Default Adding Weight

When reaching your rep goal for sets, should you have a little in the tank after that last rep before adding weight, or add it no matter what, even if it was a battle?

Lets say you are doing 3X5 for your workout.

Your FIRST set, you should be able to get more than 5 reps with that weight.

Your LAST set, you should struggle on the last rep.

Each week you need to add weight to your lifts. It's called progressive overload.

Good question. I've seen double progression recommended both ways. Some will have you move up as soon as you hit your rep goals and others will have you remain at that weight for a couple of sessions to show 'mastery' of it. I think both ways are fine and dandy.

Im doing 3x5 and the last rep of set 3 was a b!+@#, and wasn't sure. Thanks for clearing it up guy's.

Oops, I read your question as using double progression, but I guess you are using straight progression. But still, nothing wrong with repeating a weight just to make sure you got it 'mastered'. Using the same weight and finding it easier is also progression.
