It's an advanced routine so the progress will be slower than on an intermediate or beginner routine. But this isn't a bad thing considering you are focusing on losing weight.

I get under the bar, then position my feet by walking back so I'm on my toes. I make an arch by pushing back until my eyes are under the bar.. If that makes sense [emoji13]

Great to here ! [emoji4] I love lifting with my girlfriend! Took her a couple of months to squat the bar but too is up to 80 kg now! I'm sure you're better half won't take long to catch up to you...
