I've always had this idea that if I'm not like a top 3 finalist that I'd just be spinning my wheels, but I hope that's not the case.

If all this is too much to write about, it might make a good video!
Hi JD.

I recommend 100% raw, USPF, UPA, ADFPF and USAPL. There are likely other good ones, but I know these the best.

Federations aren't as important as the guy running the meet, typically. Best to find a meet and see if anyone here knows the federation or meet director.

There are first place finishes, and medals/trophies. Don't worry about placing. Go compete! Powerlifting is unlike any other sport. We respect each other for the effort, not the number.

Sorry to jump in BTB....

1. Just by competeing you "Win"...you beat everyone who stayed home sitting on the couch

2. Dosent matter where you place...if your total beats the total from your last meet..."Win"

3. Once you compete, your love of the sport will grow 10 fold = "Win"

The iron is there during my times of happiness, sadness and anger. The iron is there available through the 4 seasons and inclement weather. The iron is there to either comfort me or motivate me. The Iron manages to show me how strong I am or how humble I need to be. The iron does not yell, but it always demands respect. The iron is not a disciplinarian, but when disrespected, I feel it for a long time. The iron does not love or hate, but we definitely share a strong bond. And no matter how far I stay away or for how long, the iron is there, waiting to be lifted.

Welcome to MAB.

You really don't "need" to do cardio to lose weight. No sense grinding out the hours, bored out of your mind. Diet is most important. I woudl set up an eating plan where you are taking in 2,400 calories per day and run that for 2 weeks.

Let me know how that goes. Make sure to take in at leasy 150 grams of protein each day.

Then you can do cardio 3 times per week, 20 minutes at a pop for general health, not weight loss. And it won't matter if you miss these sessions. You will still lose weight.

As far as exercises, here are 2 possible routines that you might want to consider:

http://muscleandbrawn.com/reg-park-b...utine-workout/

http://muscleandbrawn.com/3-day-begi...ining-workout/

Let me know if you have any questions, and good luck!

Yes, correct. It's often called a reverse fly. You perform them bent over.

Yes very normal. You will always get weaker on each set. Improvement on each set is the goal from here.

Quote:

We all start weak. I couldn't bench press 95 pounds for 4 reps when I started.

Whey protein can help you reach your protein intake goals, and it's low calorie. That's the biggest thing to consider.

You can do cardio on off days, or after weight training. Whichever is more convenient for you.

Ignore how you look now. This is how I looked in 2007 when I came back to lifting:

If you stay consistent you will make dramatic changes ever during the first year.

Get strong, stay consistent!
