Canadian Powerlifting Meets & Feds
Squatter is thinking about competing so I am posting up some meets and federations so we can help him pick a meet.

I found 4 meets:

2012 MEETS

Canadian Challenge - Alberta February 11 RAW Okotoks AB
Canadian Challenge - Ontario February 11 RAW Scarborough ON
CPF Atlantic Canadian Power Challenge Spectacular 2012 April 21 CPF Amherst NS
okanagan strength weekend July 7 CPF vernon Other
Looks like 2 federations...Raw and CPF. Anyone know anything about these federations? Raw Canada's website is non-existent through Powerlifting Watch. CPF is here:

Canadian Powerlifting Federation (CPF) | Powerlifting Watch

The Canadian Powerlifting Federation (CPF) launched in 2010 to be the Canadian arm of the World Powerlifting Congress (WPC).

Drug Testing
The CPF has Pro and Amateur Competitons. Pro Competitions are not drug tested. Amateur Competitions are drug tested in accordance with APWC rules and procedures. Pro and Amateur competitions are always held as separate competitions complete with their own award ceremony.

The CPF has equipped divisions which align with the WPC/AWPC globally. There are single ply and multiple divisions each of which hold Pro and Amateur competitions. Costume rules and rules governing performance of lifts are available through the WPC rulebook downloadable at World Powerlifting Congress.

The CPF allows bench shirts up to 3 plies in polyester and denim. Canvas bench shirts are allowed. The back of the shirt may be open. Lifting suits can be made of 3 plies including denim and canvas. Also legal are 2 plies briefs with legs and up to 2.5 m knee wraps. The CPO also uses a monolift.

The CPF has offered Raw divisons and record tracking since 2006. There are both Pro and Amateur Raw Competitions. In accordance with WPC rules only wrist wraps, singlet and belt are allowed in a Raw competition.

Bruce McIntyre is a good guy and really tries to do a lot for the sport up in canada....I know this because when I attended the University of Vermont years back, canada was only about 15 min. away so I had a chance to see a lot of their lifters. Any meet he puts on should be pretty good.

Wow - thanks Steve!!

Currently, I would be in the 100kg's class and the master 2 age class

The meet in okotoks could be a possibility,as Okotoks is just a few miles south of calgary.

The meet in Vernon is also a possibility next July. Vernon is about 1 6 hour drive from here, west into british columbia. The okanagon is where everyone heads to for summer vacation - it quite often gets hotter than los Angeles there.

I reckon I should email the CPF to see if I aplly to be a member.

As far as the okotoks one goes - its not much time until feb 11th and not sure how to contact the Raw federation.

Powerlifting Watch has the meets, and I believe a link on each to the registration form. Usually registration forms have a check box that allow you to pay "X" amount of dollars to become a member.

All times are GMT -5. The time now is 09:25 PM.
