I researched them extensively. They are spot on for raw, natural standards.

From the numbers it looks like I'd fall into the Class 1 or 2 depending on the lift. Not bad, but I definitely would like to be solidly in Class 1 or above. I wasn't sure what constitutes "raw" as well. I see that there is a bit of debate on the matter. I can say that all of my max lifts have been without belts, straps, etc not that it means anything one way or another, just preference on my part I guess.

There not low and Steve did a great job researching them. You hit a 1500 or 1600 total at a USAPL event with that judging and just a belt then you are going to do very well.

Thought this thread was in reference to my article. My apologies.

That's my fault. I thought we were talking about the standards from your article. That was a good piece of writing and a very realistic discussion of the topic.

Interesting. Regardless of which set of numbers I want to look at, I now have some better goals to focus on. I can point to these as a measuring stick for myself going forward as a raw lifter, rather than trying to stack up to the geared numbers, which are the ones thrown out there the most IMO for comparisons sake. Thanks for the articles!

Thanks for the post! I love it when I get to read stuff that puts things in perspective like that. Since I train raw, I was happy to learn that I'm already Class III for Total and Deadlift in my class. I fully agree about Elite numbers: these are VERY difficult to achieve. It's about like getting to close a Captain of Crush #4 (credit card or no credit card).

Question for investigation. How do these numbers change when you add in the age factor?
