NASA: I lifted there a few times as a teenager and in the Jounior divisions. Never really much competiton there, but I think they have good size meets in the midwest. Equipment was ok, they use squat stands, no monolift at the ones I went to. The people in their organization tend to mock people in other ones. The same guy BTB refernces above wanted to mock my squats, and how that they wouldnt pass in NASA. Guess he didnt know that I was the American Record holder in NASA for 3 years in the squat haha! They are a drug tested organization, although between Honeycutt and myself we broke 4 american records and were never tested. This is my beef with drug testing feds, and part of the reason why I dont lift in them anymore unless its a big time meet.

SPF: Great equipment, by far the best I have ever used at a meet. People are friendly, and supportive. They have a bad name for some questionable calls on squat depth, but I have seen them redlight many close squats. This is a non drug tested organization, but they offer raw, single, and mulitply at pretty much all their meets. I saw some great raw lifting at the last one I did in Myrtle Beach. For my money the SPF is the way to go, but each person is different. I am doing another SPF meet next month, that will be bench only.
I couldnt agree with you more. FYI I Broke 3 different american records in 3 different weight classes. 205 when they had a 205 class 198 and i think 198 again or 220 i cant remember. I was a junior but my dead was pretty good. i think you broke 2 or 3 yourself in the dead and squat so i think we got a bout 6 together lol. anyway that stuff doesnt matter now.... now we are both top 10 in our weight classes. Not too bad for a couple slackers!!!

SPF is way better and alot more fun!!

I have never lifted with either Fed but have friends that have. I will never compete in NASA, mainly because of the childish way the Fed officers conduct themselves on the net. Openly airing their dirty laundry in public not only makes them look bad, but the entire federation.

As far as I know, SPF is a good federation. I haven't lifted with them, only because the opportunity hasn't come up. I expect at some point I will compete there.
