Daft question but I'll ask anyway.
The dumbbells in my gym absolutely rip my hands to pieces, I mean they virtually cause them to bleed after heavy farmers walks. As a writer, I should probably avoid that
So, is it ok to wear gloves during walks or does that completely defeat the purpose of the walks and make me a big girl?

Sure why not.

I have a set of dumbbells handles like that at home too. They are like cheese graters.

I do bb holds once in a while, usually go for clean grip to failure, then mixed grip to failure on 3 sets or so.

I have an ez-bar like that but am going to file it down a touch, chalk would also work since it will fill the knurling to a degree, if you were to use chalk.
