This is what hit me strongest from this article:

Honestly, unless you're an Olympic athlete - or training to be a competitive weightlifter; or somehow have seven hours to spare everyday - lets step away from the "that's not such a great idea," take a more objective look at what you just read, and come back to reality.
It was this realization that saved me. I would have been struggling to keep up with the latest trends more worried about "Am I doing it right" rather than "Am I just doing it!"

I can see how easy it is for new lifters to fall into this trap. Their buddies are talking about it...somebody's brother is doing this and is huge now...this guy at xyz gym is running a class about this/that new training style...

Because I am NOT a professional body builder, power lifter, or even model for that matter, once I started ignoring the interference coming at me from all sides and just decided to lift because I'm doing this for ME, that's when it all became FUN again. My motivation sky-rocketed and I've been exceeding my limits and expectations.

If you are an elite athlete, more power to you, I wish you nothing but success. It's just not me.

The moral of the story is: Don't try to be something you're not. There are a lot of really great people out there who are not the best at what they do.
