Thought I would throw out an Olympic lift poll and discussion question...

What Olympic lifts and variations do you currently use, or have tried in the past?

Snatches, Cleans, Clean & Jerk are what I have done in the past. Wouldn't mind incorporating them all again - it's just hard to do in gyms that don't have bumper plates or lifting platforms. I'd hate to drop a bar loaded with iron plates and be "that guy".

I have used a lot of the olympic lifts in my programs before. But it is really tough to incorporate them into a pure powerlifting routine.

I have done clean and jerk, snatches, power and hang cleans. Its just tough to get them all in.

I've done them all!
The power clean & push press has been the foundation of nearly all my programming since I was wee lad. As a kid I LOVED to train the snatch just so I could say "snatch" without getting smacked in the mouth.

Currently still cleaning and pressing and loving on the snatch with kettlebells and sandbags.

I started to do the Oly lifts maybe 6 months ago, just becouse no one else were I lift does em and I thought it was awesome to be able to clean what the average gymgoes deadlifts. With that being the reason for doing them, I pretty fast noticed that they carryed over nicely to my more static lifts, and I started to do clean and snatch variations as part of my regular warmup to kickstart the CNS, which gave me a whole new drive on the dl/squat/bench/ohp.

With that said, now due to im being on a strength program that leaves little energy left for other heavy work than the big 3, i try to get in some cleans after the deadlifts on deadlift day but im not having time (or recovery for that matter) for much more unfortunately. I have been thinking about doing a more oly oriented program after this 9 weeks, and then supplementing backsquats for front.s, benchfress with pushpress or jerk, and deadlifts for pulls from the floor in forms of a clean variation, that is before getting on another strength cycle.

I really like the oly lifts and think they are great for overall strength, flexibility and health.

And its badass, dont forget that! =)
