If you can't go the $50 right now, you can do as I did. get some one lb wrist weights. I can go up a pound at a time if I want. Have not even had a balance problem, as I can slip one over the entire collar to the center of the bar if needed.

I do like those fractional plates though. I am going to look into a set of those.

I also would love a trap bar, don't care if it is neon green or pink, just as long as it is MY Trap Bar.

So here's what I ended up doing...

Bought 6 of these washers: McMaster-Carr

theyre 2 1/8" inside diameter so they'll fit over a barbell and each one weighs .625 so I can add weight in increments of 1.25 lbs. Cant wait for them to come in

This is interesting to me. Think I might try this in the offseason, start off slow, and even though you could potentially jump 5-10lbs, only do 1-2lbs a week.

I wonder how it would affect muscle gains, giving them less of a "gain" yet still stimulating growth. I almost think it would allow the muscle in a sense to grow slower, maybe harden it more? hmm...
