Default Deadlifting Twice a Week

Any thoughts on deadlift twice a week?

I know this goes against a lot of conventional thinking, but I handle the deadlift very well and have been thinking about trying a more Hepburn style approach as an experiment.

I was thinking:

Monday - Deadlift 6x3 @ 75% (ish)
Wednesday - Squats
Friday - Deadlift 5-8 singles @ 85% (ish)

damn man i was just thinking this same thing. i wonder how it would pan out. i seem to recover very well from the deads. probably better than any other lifts. i think i would shoot more for 65% and 85% though. and i don't think i'm gonna continue on the path of shooting for max effort for at least another 4 weeks or so. i'm gettin some elbow tendinitus from all the heavy bangin i've been doin.

I handle deadlifts MUCH better then squats. Heck, I think I handle deadlifts better then front squats.

Are you getting elbow tendinitis?

Around what percentage are you lifting. You train to max at least once a week, correct?

I think as long as my squat day isn't overblown my body would handle it well.

Do you perform dumbbell or barbell rows at all? Just thinking out loud.

i used to train DL twice a week (helped me rocket up ), but even at my low strength level(compared to you), i cant deadlift twice a week anymore... i'm typically a cripple after deadlift for at least two days (although after yesterday's session, i feel oddly good today).

as you know i was experimenting with squatting a **** load of days a week, but deadlift messed it up... i had no good place to throw DL in, so i went back to a more normal schedule...

_________

anyway, i think different people handle it better than others... if you can train it twice a week, take full advantage of it and train it twice a week.... i recover from squats very well, unlike you and others, so i was trying to take advantage of that

I try to train Max Effort both days. Some days I will do speed deads or rack pulls if I'm not felling but, I handle deads very well to and not so much on the squats.

I think that's a solid plan...although maybe move Fridays DLs to Thurday? Just thinking that after 85% singles on Friday, 2 days later and you'd be pumping out multiple sets at 75%, not too much lighter..
