Default Squat form check

After watching and reading a butt load of videos and articles on squatting low bar, as well as getting feedback about not using my hips properly, I decided to try a few things during this morning's squat session.

For comparison, this is how I was squatting back in January. I looked up at about a 30 degree angle, led with my chest, and the bar path either serpentined quite a bit or simply went very far forward. It left my quads burning and felt almost nothing in my hamstrings, glutes or back.




Today, I focused on looking out or even down a little bit, and focused on my ass going up instead of my chest. The bar path is much more consistent (aside from the reps where I resorted to old habits), and I felt MUCH more activation in my hamstrings and glutes.



Hopefully I'm on the right path here, it sure feels like it, but any input is greatly appreciated.

Ok, glad to hear that. This morning felt a lot better than it has in a long time, so I was hoping I was on the right track to fixing my squat.

Good form. Some folks squat with their knees; some with their glutes back. I can cite examples of strong-assed squatters in both categories. Nothing wrong with yours.

Stay tight and get strong. Don't let any amount of weight mess with your form. Good job.
